I stood up immediately without waiting for a response. I heard him say, “You know I can’t drink,” from behind, but I pretended not to hear and hurried to the bathroom.

When I washed my face, the mirror reflected the face of a woman with short hair. A face that still retained a bit of youthfulness, one that could be seen anywhere, and rather ordinary.
