Honestly speaking, I had been looking forward to today’s mission just a bit. I’d hoped for something dramatic and impressive to unfold—or at least that I’d get to do something cool.

But reality was far different from my imagination. Moreover, the situation inside the Gate was even more unlike anything I’d pictured.

“What are you doing over there? Hurry up and come this way! It’s dangerous!”

“Hey, hey! Monster! There’s a monster over there!”

“Get out of the way, you fool!”

“Oh geez. Why can’t I muster any strength?”

I’d never realized something before, simply because the Awakened people around me were always at least Rank A. I hadn’t known that combat-type Awakened individuals below Rank E were better off just doing delivery work.

There couldn’t be a bigger mess than this. The Gate itself was only Rank C, and the monsters inside were around Rank C or D, yet the internal situation was severe.

Several people were injured badly enough they couldn’t move, others showed not even a shred of teamwork, and meanwhile, a giant mantis charged in while everyone panicked aimlessly…

The mantis swung its scythe-like arms. The clueless middle-aged man standing there dumbly let out a “Kuhh—!” and went flying.

Yet, strangely enough, there were no fatalities. The Hunter from the Association who was overseeing and commanding our team checked on the injured first.

“Is emergency treatment finished yet!?”

“Hey, this thing’s too tough—my attacks aren’t getting through! What do we do?!”

“Aim for the joints, belly, or head—those are the weak points of insect-type monsters!”

“Hey, what are you even doing over there?! We’re fighting right now!”
