Soon, I received the key and the sapling. The mana-blocking iron cage came as a bonus. I immediately reached into the cage and pulled out the young sapling. The staff member, who’d claimed he wouldn’t care what happened, now looked genuinely surprised that nothing had gone wrong.

“Were you very surprised?”

The tender leaf tips fluttered softly. There were slight signs of decay… I’d need to prune it later.

Though I didn’t possess any taming skills, perhaps because Dryads are a type of fairy, the sapling automatically bound itself to me. I selected “Yes” for now and postponed naming it, tucking the sapling away into my dream space.
