I must have gotten too immersed in the novel I was reading.

“Oh, the bell’s ringing.”

Along with the minute hand’s movement, the familiar chime rang out, grating on my ears. I glanced at my watch, then waved at Ha Young.

“The bell rang—hurry back to your classroom.”

“Okay. I’ll come get you after dismissal.”

As I waved, I saw Ha Young leave her seat. It’s always amazing how perfectly proper she is. I thought this while watching the back of her head as she walked away.
