The Association knew I was Yo Hwa, an unofficial S-rank, so I naturally assumed they’d conduct their investigation with that in mind. Yet, seeing the person seated before me, it didn’t seem entirely the case.

“Then let’s wrap up today’s investigation here. Thank you for your time.”

“Yes, thank you for your time.”

The investigator quickly composed her expression and tapped her documents into order as she spoke. I hurriedly bowed and left the interrogation room.

Just as I turned the doorknob, a deep sigh sounded from behind me—and understandably so.

Given that even multiple world-class Rankers couldn’t approach the Unknown Gate without casualties, and that the mere existence of the Gate could effortlessly annihilate an entire nation, investigation was absolutely necessary.

The problem was that those requiring investigation were mostly high-ranking officials or top-tier Hunters, which must have caused numerous difficulties.

Moreover, most of the people who’d been synced returned half out of their minds.

Since several of them claimed there were “humanoid monsters,” the Association undoubtedly had a major headache trying to investigate this matter.

Monsters resembling humans weren’t unheard of in the first place. Bestiaries categorized them under the term “Ainjok,” and quite a few publications on them already existed—so many likely assumed this case was similar.

The real issue, however, was that these weren’t just Ainjok—they looked exactly like ordinary people living in this world and spoke the same language.

Depending on how things developed, the entire monster classification system might need to be scrapped and rewritten, so it wasn’t only Korea’s Association suffering headaches over this.

Since I had no idea how much I was allowed to reveal, I simply lied about everything. After all, spreading strange rumors or false information would only create further problems.

As I walked down the hallway after leaving the interrogation room, my thoughts wandered aimlessly.

Soon, the first Demon King would appear, as foretold by the prophecy. Countless people would perish in the all-freezing winter, and in a world thrown into chaos, innocent blood would soak the earth as people turned their blades against one another.
