“Ha, haha. You know a lot, huh? There is still time, but staying here longer could cause stability issues. I’ve triple-layered the stealth, but it’s down to double now. Someone might detect it.”

“Oh, was that it?”

They really complement each other well. I put down my empty cup and slumped down. So sad that my brief freedom was ending like this.

“But since it’s the last, how about staying for another 30 minutes? I’m here too, after all.”

“……Oh, fine. Fine.”

Min Yushin, the king of nagging, surprisingly agreed. I internally rejoiced.

“I have one last place I want to visit!”

“It’s not far, is it?”

“It’s nearby.”

“Alright, let’s head that way.”

I took them to a park.

“Here?”

“This is a park I used to come to often. I came here whenever something happened.”

The place I took them was a park I frequented when I was bored, can of beer in hand.

Flooded with sudden memories, I remembered coming here the day Kim, the manager, fired me for pushing his nephew into my position. I drank beer and lamented here… Not a particularly good memory.

“Weren’t you in danger?”

Baek Ihyeon immediately asked such a thing. What danger? It was a park I used to come to often. With beer and snacks, I could perfectly reenact those memories. I snickered as if I’d heard a very funny joke.

“……I think I understand a bit why you resented Shinwoo.”

Min Yushin sighed and sat down on a bench, his face full of the fatigue and struggles of a working adult.

“Why?”

“You might think, ‘he could have offered financial help anonymously’. I didn’t know you were living like this.”

“I could get by in a semi-basement. Don’t underestimate the life of the common people.”

“That’s not what I meant… Never mind. Cheon Shinwoo must have had his reasons, I guess.”

I didn’t understand why he suddenly brought this up. Confused, I looked at him and then at the sky.

The sun, which had been shining brightly just a moment ago, was now lazily setting.

We should return soon, as promised, in 30 minutes. Reluctant to leave, I hesitated to move.

Then, a buzzing sound rang out.

“Huh? Wait. Let me take this call.”

Min Yushin’s expression instantly crumpled as he checked the name on the screen. He walked to a corner, probably to avoid letting the call be heard.

“Shin-ah.”

“Hmm?”

“Let’s run away!”

In that instant, Baek Ihyeon grabbed my hand and dashed out, running away from the spot.

“Hey, hey! What’s this all of a sudden!”

“Just for a bit, just for a little while!”

“It’s dangerous! If we leave the range of the stealth skill…”

“It’s okay, I’ll protect you no matter what.”

Even though I couldn’t see his face, I felt like he was smiling. True to Baek Ihyeon’s nature – kind and gentle but firm – his hand held mine firmly. I couldn’t bring myself to shake it off.
How long did we run? I stopped and gasped for air. Baek Ihyeon’s action was surprising, but I never thought I could outrun an A-class, and I was too out of breath for just this short run.

Baek Ihyeon looked at me with concern.

“You… don’t you think your physical fitness is seriously poor?”

“Pant, pant. I don’t want to hear that from someone who started running out of nowhere… I’m a non-awakened ordinary person…”

“You’re too weak… Won’t you break if I squeeze too hard?”

“What nonsense. More importantly, why did you suddenly do this?”

“It’s okay for a while. You were feeling regretful too… weren’t you?”

Though I thought it was crazy, I couldn’t help but laugh. It was absurd and liberating at the same time.

The cool breeze, running feet, a sparsely populated park, the setting sun. It was a moment free from surveillance, a feeling only possible in this instant.

“Haha! Sometimes I think, you’re really crazy!”

“They say all high-level awakeners have their quirks, maybe I do too. How do you feel?”

“Good. I think it’s good.”

I sat down on a nearby bench. I was still out of breath, but the feeling was exhilarating.

Let’s stay like this for a bit, just a little longer. Min Yushin, always so worried and naggy, will surely come back soon.

“It seems there’s no one who knows me as well as you do.”

“I’ve always been watching you.”

“Ew.”

“That kind of reaction hurts.”

“You’re not even serious.”

“Haha.”

His laughter faded as the sun slowly disappeared. Time had passed so quickly. I felt the pressure to return, but I didn’t want to let go of this newfound sense of freedom.

“Shall we walk a bit?”

“Yeah.”

So, for just a short while. We decided to take a walk before returning.

Which is to say, getting caught up in a gate again was absolutely not my intention.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
