“Ah, Mother! Why are you barging into my room first thing in the morning!”

Unable to contain her anger at her son’s irritated demeanor and scanty attire, Lucrezia was furious. There could only be one reason for her sweet and adorable Ippolito to get angry at his mother.

“Ippolito, what is this? Have you been fooling around with that girl since this morning?”

“Ah, what are you talking about, mom! Look, she’s not here!”

Ippolito jumped up in response. Lucrezia scanned her son’s room with hawk eyes, but there was no sight of Maletta.

Instead, female garments and a hairbrush were scattered around the room.

“There’s no one here, what can I do! Look at this, look at this!”

Lucrezia picked up a woman’s underwear from the floor. She held it up to her son’s nose, shaking it as if she were touching something filthy with only the tips of two fingers.

“Playing around with a maid before even holding a funeral for your dead sister?! Are you out of your mind?”

“Ah, mom! You’re always like that!”

“Like covering the sky with the palm of your hand! Who are you fooling! That’s why you hear rumors of you having no affection for your cousin! Ah, I can’t live like this!”

“… Mom, but.”

Ippolito looked at his mother with a peculiar expression.

“Is she a bastard brought from outside?”

“What?”

“I mean Arabella. You said her father is different.”

“What? Where did you hear that?”

“Uncle Stefano said it. I heard everything.”

Lucrezia slapped her chest.

“Stefano, you useless man in my entire life!”

“So it’s true then?”

Ippolito finished dressing in his halfworn attire and straightened his back in front of his mother. He looked at Lucrezia with curious eyes.

“Who’s Arabella’s father?”

“Ah, this kid. Who would Arabella’s father be, but Cardinal Simon de Mare!”

“Ah, mom, even now you’re lying to me?”

“You dumb kid!”

Lucrezia slapped the back of Ippolito’s head with her palm. He was her only precious son whom she cared for as if he might break if squeezed or fly away if blown, but this was too much.

“You ungrateful son!”

“Ouch!”

“I’ve been living my whole life rubbing and living with a man who can’t get into the castle for me! How could you, of all people, say such a thing to me!”

“Ouch, ouch!”

Ippolito made a painful sound, holding his ear. It was because his wrist was brushed a little as Lucrezia was hitting the back of his head.

“Mom, I can’t understand a single thing you’re saying. If you don’t want to tell me, just say so, why are you hitting your poor son?”

“You’re like a sore that doesn’t know gratitude! Shut up! Shut up! Get ready to attend the memorial service downstairs right now!”

Lucrezia shouted at her son and stormed downstairs. It seemed she came up to kindly invite her son to stand right next to her at the memorial service, but it only made her angry. Ippolito was grumbling.

Meanwhile, Maletta, who was hiding in the closet in her bare state, thought to herself.

‘That… It doesn’t seem like Lady Lucrezia got angry because she didn’t want to tell who Miss Arabella’s father is?’

[This is the time separator]

Arabella’s memorial service was solemnly and grandly held. A crowd like clouds filled the main hall of the Cathedral of San Ercole.

The service began with a mournful ritual by Cardinal de Mare.

“Our Lord’s faithful lamb Arabella de Mare, who has grown faithfully in our Lord’s grace, leaves us today and follows the Lord’s guidance back to the cycle of samsara.”

Usually, a memorial service begins by stating who the deceased is the child of. Cardinal de Mare smoothly skipped the description of who Arabella’s father was.

Moreover, since Arabella was born out of a marital relationship not blessed by the Church, they could not use the conventional phrase ‘born purely in our Lord.’ This was elegantly replaced with ‘grew faithfully.’

Ariadne thought this social elegance was nauseating. It was a scene where one could not call the father a father.

“To save the innocent lamb…”

The Cardinal de Mare’s memorial continued. Lucrezia, clad in a black mourning gown that choked her to the throat, shed tears inconsolably from the front row.

Next to her, Isabella, in a black mourning veil, let tears drop from her beautiful amethyst eyes.

‘Despicable humans.’

If they had mourned quietly as a family, they could have disclosed who the daughter was, where she was born, and sent Arabella off.

But not only Lucrezia but also the Cardinal de Mare were not the kind of people who would quietly, inconspicuously go through the investigation that occurred in the house.

“Chants to send off the pitiful soul…”

The principle of the church was not to participate in any ceremonies, such as baptism of a bastard, marriage, funeral, or requiem. Over the past 100 years, that principle had broken down hopelessly in the most unfair way.

The child of a poor, unmarried mother lied that she was an orphan to fit into the world of the righteous and barely received baptism outside the church door by kneeling and begging the priest.

Cold Male Lead Became My Clingy Husband (Female-Dominant)

Feng Bai Su transmigrated into a matriarchal novel, becoming the sister of the female protagonist and the Seventh Princess of the Feng Ling Kingdom.

After working herself to death in her previous life, finally reincarnating as a princess, she only wanted to be a lazy fish who could eat, sleep, and play.

Until she met the male protagonist from the book, Wei Jing Mo, and he took a liking to her!

Wei Jing Mo is the top young man in Feng Ling City, talented in both appearance and ability, from a prestigious family, with a cold and otherworldly appearance, a figure like the bright moon in the hearts of noble ladies. It was thought that only the most powerful and talented noble lady in Feng Ling City would be worthy of such a brilliant young man. Who knew that this young gentleman would secretly admire the infamous Seventh Princess?

Short scene 1:

Feng Bai Su looked at the young man crying like a pear blossom in the rain before her, and couldn’t help but doubt her life.

Wasn’t the male lead described as a cold and otherworldly figure in the book?

Then who was this poor little thing crying with swollen red eyes and tear-stained face?

Short scene 2:

Wei Jing Mo stared intently at Feng Bai Su who was about to go out, wanting to say, “Be careful on the road.”

Before he could speak, Feng Bai Su suddenly bent down and bit his cheek.

Her peach blossom eyes were full of disdain: “Tsk! You’re so clingy!”

Wei Jing Mo: “…”

A talented fox spirit female lead with a flirtatious appearance but actually abstinent VS A cold-looking but actually naive and clingy little jealous male lead
