Sister, I'm the Queen This Life (330 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 287
“It’s you who’s being loud, Valdesar.”
Sir Elco stood his ground and faced Raphael directly.
“Daring to even show your face here—something I wouldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams. You’re utterly shameless beyond words.”
Frowning, Raphael turned to Alfonso and asked,
“Alfonso, what in the world is that chicken-headed fool babbling about?”
Despite the hostile atmosphere, Alfonso merely crossed his arms and kept his lips tightly shut. Raphael, who had expected Alfonso to immediately rein in Elco, was inwardly quite flustered, though he showed no outward signs.
This was not at all how Raphael had imagined things would go today. He had expected Alfonso to acknowledge his efforts, apologize for his own wrongdoing, and offer an explanation.
Alfonso had plenty to atone for. Both his lack of communication and the rumors about him acquiring a “wife” were matters he needed to either apologize for or clarify.
Regarding the lack of communication—fine, granting that a hundred times over—it might have been difficult to stay in touch while on the battlefield. Troops are always on the move, and writing letters isn’t easy when your life is in constant danger.
But even if that were the case, he should have sought out Ariadne immediately upon returning—or at the very least, Raphael himself, if he felt too conflicted about Ariadne due to her engagement and subsequent broken betrothal.
Raphael believed he deserved that courtesy. In Ariadne’s case, Alfonso had every reason to feel angry or hurt because of Cesare’s interference.
But what about Raphael himself? He had done nothing but devote himself entirely to Alfonso—crossing oceans, cutting through deserts, and staying loyally by the side of the woman he believed to be Alfonso’s destined partner for four whole years without ever confessing his own feelings.
All because Alfonso had entrusted Ariadne to him before leaving.
Raphael had planned to receive Alfonso’s gratitude today, speak on Ariadne’s behalf, and issue a final ultimatum: “Until now, I’ve held back for your sake. But starting tomorrow, I’ll compete fairly and openly. I won’t yield anymore.”
His willingness to defend her from Ariadne’s perspective was meant as atonement for the letter he’d sent from the desert.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
