Sir Elco stood his ground and faced Raphael directly.

Frowning, Raphael turned to Alfonso and asked,

“Alfonso, what in the world is that chicken-headed fool babbling about?”

Despite the hostile atmosphere, Alfonso merely crossed his arms and kept his lips tightly shut. Raphael, who had expected Alfonso to immediately rein in Elco, was inwardly quite flustered, though he showed no outward signs.

This was not at all how Raphael had imagined things would go today. He had expected Alfonso to acknowledge his efforts, apologize for his own wrongdoing, and offer an explanation.

Alfonso had plenty to atone for. Both his lack of communication and the rumors about him acquiring a “wife” were matters he needed to either apologize for or clarify.
