‘Impossible to identify.’

Last night, after hearing Lawrence’s report about a woman named Jane, Belige sank into deep thought. A woman whose name and age were both lies.

He had clearly seen her with his own eyes, yet she vanished like a bubble— as if she had never existed at all.

Silver hair and violet eyes.

Those were certainly not common colors. Because of that, he had thought finding her would only be a matter of time.

‘In the end, we couldn’t find her.’

Belige clicked his tongue inwardly. Ever since that day, an irritating discomfort had lodged itself in his mind, like a stubborn stone jutting out from flat ground.

‘Why am I so uneasy?’

He had clearly confirmed with his own eyes that Lina was lying in the room.

Yet, merely because her body hadn’t felt warm, he’d been obsessing over it all day—an utterly pathetic state of mind.

Just as he ran his hand through his hair in frustration, Lina, seated before him, asked cautiously,

“My Lord, is something the matter?”

Startled from his reverie by her voice, Belige stared blankly at Lina.

Her face, blinking as she met his gaze, looked so innocently cheerful it seemed she knew nothing at all.

‘Right—what on earth am I worrying about?’
