“Cough—. Cough—.”

Lina wandered down the hallway, coughing incessantly.

“Lina. Did you catch a cold?”

“Yeah. I got caught in the rain yesterday, so that must be it.”

Already unwell, getting drenched in the rain had worsened Lina’s condition even further.

“Then wouldn’t it be better to go back to your room and rest?”

“It’s not that bad yet. I also have something to tell the butler.”

After several days of deliberation, Lina had made up her mind to leave the manor.

Ever since the duke had returned, not a single moment had passed in peace. Ridiculous rumors. Whispering servants. Everything had grown utterly tiresome.

Though her offer that day to leave the manor in Henry’s place had been partly impulsive, it had also held a measure of sincerity.

She’d stayed only because she had nowhere else to go and felt utterly trapped—but now, her patience had reached its limit.

‘I’m still worried about May, though…’

May had been the one thing weighing most heavily on her mind before leaving the manor. The thought of abandoning May, who looked up to her like an older sister and whose affection she couldn’t ignore, made her uneasy.

Moreover, Henry had already left the manor, which only added to her concern.

Lina looked at May, whose eyes were filled with worry.
