After concluding a smooth negotiation, Ascal arrived at the office and asked the Secretary, who was stacking documents for today’s approvals:

“How much has the population of the domain increased compared to last year?”

“It has nearly doubled. That’s a high figure compared to two years ago, because many people are eager to join the upcoming beast-hunting expedition.”

“How are you handling their housing?”

Limon pulled out one of the recently stacked documents and pointed to a map within it with his finger.

“Most of the inns and hotels near the domain’s outskirts are nearly full. So we’re constructing a public lodging facility near the port at affordable prices.”

Ascal recalled the laborers he had seen at the automobile demonstration.

“What’s the capacity of this public lodging?”

“Three buildings, each able to accommodate about a thousand residents.”

Ascal shook his head repeatedly. That alone wouldn’t solve the housing crisis for the flood of newcomers.

He decided to gradually improve the root cause, but for now, he would take direct action.

“Limon, I need a house for one adult male.”

“Are you running away from home?”

Ascal glared sharply at him, not amused by the joke. Limon held up his palms.

“You know how hard it is to find a place to live right now, don’t you?”
