Murteng left for the hotel after Anna rejected him. Watching him casually drop hints about where he was staying, I once again realized that you truly only understand people through experience.

After finishing up the packing, I went out with Lanson to the shopping district to buy furniture for the storage room. After selecting a desk and a small cabinet, we moved on to the displayed beds.

‘Is it small?’

Lanson walked over and casually lay down on the bed. His ankles stuck out beyond the edge of the mattress.

‘Aren’t there any longer ones?’

The furniture shop owner showed me a catalog in response to my question.

‘Anything larger than this must be ordered specially. It would take about three days to deliver.’

‘What about Lanson? Should I order it for you?’

‘Yes, please.’

He answered, wiggling his ankles in midair. I placed the custom order with the shop owner and turned to leave. Lanson had already risen from the bed.

We left the furniture shop and visited a few more places. After stopping by the art supply store to finish our errands, I spoke to Lanson, who looked somewhat tired.

‘You’re worn out? Let’s head back to the Black Swan.’

‘I’ve been waiting to hear that.’

Since we had a lot of luggage and were two people, we called for a hired carriage. While Lanson slid an envelope into the seat, the driver took the fare and smiled slyly.

‘It seems your outside companion cares for you very much.’
