Somehow, I ended up bringing the Kid to the Viscountess’s residence and wrote a letter to Anna saying that the Viscount was here and would return to the mansion once the rain stopped. I also added that she should bring spare clothes.

The Kid plopped down near the fireplace, clearly familiar with the place.

“I brought warm water since there was no milk. I added a bit of honey—is that okay?”

“Yes, that’s fine.”

The Kid took the cup and smiled warmly, murmuring how nice it was.

“It’s not going to stop easily.”

The rain grew heavier. At the same time, the overcast sky suddenly flashed bright.

Rumble. Crash.

A lightning bolt struck nearby—the light vanished, and thunder rolled immediately.

I quickly pulled the curtains shut and approached the child.

“I’m fine. The auntie’s right here, so I’m not scared at all.”

The Kid anticipated my question before I could ask it.

“Really?”

I planned to hold her close if she was frightened, but since she said she was fine, I let it go.

‘Anna will need time to bring clothes from the Duke’s residence… but we can’t keep her in wet clothes.’
