Ascal stepped onto the deck and gazed at the distant land. The wind blew cold, and the physician grumbled about him coming outside.

“Your Highness, we will arrive in ten minutes.”

The sailor spoke cautiously to him as he looked toward the harbor. Ascal nodded in acknowledgment.

The ship cut steadily through the sea. Meanwhile, the cries of seagulls grew clearer, and the bell signaling departure rang louder.

“Wait—there are people gathered over there.”

The physician pointed toward the dock with his hand. Ascal pulled out his telescope and raised it to his eye. There, facing the ship, stood the Artenbach knights, Schmidt, and Rublion.

“Who is it?”

Ascal handed the telescope to him, as if in response to his curious question. Upon spotting Schmidt, the physician gasped in alarm.

“It’s not good to be out in the cold wind!”

Ascal snatched the telescope from his muttering hand and brought it back to his eye.

“Is it really that delightful? To the point where you can’t help smiling?”

Unconsciously smiling, he cleared his throat and lowered the corners of his mouth.

“…Isn’t she cute?”

“Who? The Lady?”

The physician glanced up and down, then turned his head away with a heavy sigh—it was the only action he could take since his master was observing the dock through the telescope.
