The parliament chamber fell silent as if doused with cold water at the Crown Prince’s command.

“That is a question unrelated to the trial’s content.”

The foreman of the jury bowed his head to correct himself. The Crown Prince continued to gaze at the curious faces before him.

“The atmosphere has become too heated; we shall take a brief recess.”

Thirty minutes of break were granted. The jurors proceeded to a separate lounge reserved exclusively for them, away from either party, while the Crown Prince exited the chamber with his guard.

“What’s the contingency plan?”

At Ascal’s whisper, Limon pulled a file from deep within his bag.

“I prepared the paternity test results as you instructed. I hoped I wouldn’t have to produce it….”

Limon gritted his teeth as he stared at Arion. Seeing him whispering with his own lawyer, arms crossed, he felt like his insides were about to burst. If he felt this way, how much worse must Ascal feel?

Amid this exasperating situation, as Limon and Ascal diligently prepared their rebuttal, they turned their heads at the clinking sound of armor.

A fully armed royal guard was lifting Arion to his feet and leading him outside.

“What’s his scheme?”

Limon pressed close behind Ascal and whispered softly.

“He’s trying to silence him. Nothing good would come of it if it came to light.”
