The streetlights at the dock were all turned off. They had been darkened in preparation for any contingency.

Rimon was waiting for Askal, highly conscious of the surrounding sounds. It was to smuggle Aron out before the Crown Prince could act.

Clank.

The timid Rimon’s shoulders jerked in surprise at the sound of dragging chains.

“……Askal?”

Carefully examining the direction of the sound, he saw Aron approaching with chains wrapped around his wrists and Askal pointing a gun at his head.

Rimon, who had been anxious, smiled broadly and gave boarding instructions to the knights and sailors with him.

“That was close. A little later and we’d have been dead.”

Askal said, ruffling his hair. Rimon looked Aron up and down, then turned around.

“Thanks for sparing me, but let go now.”

Aron spoke, as if annoyed.

“What do you intend to do, dragging me here like a criminal?”

A dark dock. A medium-sized fishing boat heading to an unknown destination.

Knights busily moving back and forth preparing for departure.

The atmosphere alone felt like smuggling. Aron watched the scene carefully and said:

“Are you trying to smuggle me out of the country?”

Askal did not answer Aron’s question. He merely gestured quietly to give instructions.

“If you’re going to send me anyway, send me to the Eastern Empire. No one could chase me there.”

Aron grinned, imagining a bright future after crossing to a foreign country. Then, noticing Askal staring at his chest, he shouted:

“Hey? This isn’t allowed!”

He twisted his upper body wildly to keep his younger brother’s hands away, but it was too late.

Inside the wide-open jacket were several bundles of 100,000 tiga. Askal and Rimon’s expressions crumpled as if they had bitten into a bug.

“I need to eat wherever I go!”

Aron hugged the money bundles tightly with his arms, saying this would be the seed money for his new life.

“If you want it that badly, take it.”

As soon as Askal finished speaking, Aron closed his jacket again. His determination not to let anyone take it from him was evident.

“All preparations are complete.”

When Rimon gave the signal, the knights standing by grabbed Aron by both arms. He bellowed, “Hey!”

“I’ll board on my own. Get lost!”

They were prepared to force him aboard if he refused, but he got on the boat of his own accord. Askal untied the mooring rope, conscious of his surroundings. That’s when it happened.

Swish.

The sound of a sword being drawn rang out loudly at the entrance to the dock. Startled, Rimon quickly lowered his posture, while the knights gathered around, examining the direction of the sound.

“If you do not hand over that person, we will kill everyone.”

Emerging from the darkness were Imperial Guards in assassin attire.

“Can you kill me?”

Askal revealed his face by shining a torch.

“If I die here, it’s the end of the Imperial family.”

It was an effective threat. The entire guard hesitated for a moment.

Meanwhile, Askal gave the hand signal to depart. The captain, understanding perfectly, started the engine.

The urgency growing, the guards approached slowly while maintaining formation. The Artenbach knights blocked their path.

The boat slowly began to move forward. Aron watched the two groups facing off as if observing a fire across the river. That’s when it happened.

Bang.

A loud gunshot rang out across the dock. Aron screamed in surprise.

“Everyone, shield His Excellency!”

At Rimon’s command, the Artenbach knights split into groups – one blocking the approaching guards, the other protecting against the sniper. It was the skill of a well-trained knightly order.

The terrified Aron stood dumbfounded, not even thinking to lower his posture. Askal hurriedly boarded the boat and reached out to push down his head.

At that moment.

“To the side!”

He turned his head at Rimon’s urgent shout, but it was a moment too late.

Bang. Bang.

With an ear-piercing scream, Aron clutched his chest and collapsed.

“Ah…… No.”

Rimon’s eyes caught sight of Askal staggering. The right side below his ribs was turning red.

“Askal!”

At about 3 meters from the dock, it was too far for a person to jump aboard, but close enough for bullets to reach.

Rimon trembled, turning pale. Some of the knights engaged in battle surrounded him for protection. Now, if they could just safely escape from here, everything would go according to plan.

They had succeeded in smuggling Aron out to prevent his death, and successfully boarded the boat to Roded Island.

If only it weren’t for the fact that Askal had been shot.

The Imperial Guard captain reported the events while kneeling. The Crown Prince, who had not removed the cigar from his mouth, roughly threw the still-lit cigar to the floor and said:

“There must be no evidence left that I tried to deal with him. Erase everything that could be evidence before the sun rises.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

“And clean up the sniper who shot the Duke as well.”

“By clean up, do you mean……”

The Crown Prince answered with a completely hardened expression:

“I mean silence them completely.”

The Guard captain’s face darkened as he understood the order. Although there was a difference between swordsmanship and marksmanship, he faced a dilemma in having to eliminate a knight he had trained with his own hands and built a sort of bond with.

Inside the boat, far enough from the dock to barely see it, chaos erupted. A sailor who noticed Askal’s condition was not normal moved him into the cabin.

Aron also followed, hunched over, saying his chest hurt.

The sailor cut off the jacket with scissors. It was to take action before the blood hardened, making it difficult to remove.

The bullet had grazed his side, tearing off a piece of flesh. Judging by the position and posture, the bullet that grazed his side seemed to have hit Aron’s chest.

“Ha, damn. I’m hurt too.”

Despite being shot in the chest, Aron was relatively fine. It was thanks to the bundle of tiga he had preciously tucked in his chest.

He jumped up and down, spilling out the bundle of tiga. The sound of the bullet lodged in the bills falling was heard as well.

“Hey. Treat me first.”

He wiggled his hand towards the sailor, demanding treatment for himself.

“Please wait a moment. The Duke’s bleeding is severe, and if we don’t stitch the wound immediately, it’s dangerous.”

“Why should I care!”

Aron shouted angrily. Askal, with a face contorted in pain, poured medicine into his mouth and said:

“Shut up. If you mess up, I might just kill you right here.”

Aron clamped his mouth shut at his terrifying words. His eyes were so cold, it seemed he might really kill him.

“Your Excellency, I don’t think we can wait for the medicine to take effect. I’ll suture it right away.”

Askal nodded. Watching his younger brother who didn’t even let out a groan despite the tremendous pain, Aron wore a sickened expression.

After the rough treatment was finished and Askal was laid on the captain’s room bed, the sailor who came out approached Aron, who was sitting in a chair with a good view of the deck.

He waved his hand, saying there was no need for treatment. Instead, he asked something else.

“Hey. Can you cut this?”

He showed the iron chains wrapped around his wrists.

“We do have tools.”

“Really?”

The corners of Aron’s mouth lifted.

“Good. First, bring my money from the cabin. If you bring that and cut these chains, I’ll give you half of what I have.”

“I’ll ask His Excellency about cutting the chains. I’ll bring the tiga right away.”

Aron was about to shout why he needed to ask about such a thing, but he quietly closed his mouth at the words that he would bring the tiga.

The sailor came out of the cabin with bundles of tiga. Seeing the bundles, Aron thrust his chest forward, instructing him to put them back where they were originally. The sailor stuffed the bundles into his chest with an uncomfortable face.

“By the way, where is this boat heading?”

He thought it was a bit late to ask, but he was planning to figure out how to spend his time from now on.

“The Eastern Empire? Or the Western Kingdom?”

“I don’t know where we’re going either.”

Aron gritted his teeth.

“This guy and that guy, nobody gives a proper answer.”

It seemed he had asked the same question to everyone he met. The sailor felt a bit of sympathy and carefully opened his mouth.

“I don’t know where we’re going, but they said it would take a day to reach the promised place.”

Aron’s golden eyes were filled with confusion. Where could it be that takes a day by boat from the capital?

The important thing was that if it took that long, it wasn’t the Eastern Empire or the Western Kingdom.

‘A distant island nation? Or are we crossing the Tid Sea entirely? It’s impossible to cross the Tid Sea completely with this fishing boat.’

Things were starting to feel ominous. He had thought he was lucky to escape safely from the assassins, but now he wondered if he might have fled from wolves only to arrive at a tiger’s den.

[This is the timeline separator]

“……What should I do?”

Rimon, who had returned to the House after successfully escaping as planned, was half in panic. A knight who had carried out the mission with him carefully opened his mouth.

“It’s a medium-sized fishing boat, so there should be a first aid kit.”

“He was definitely shot. If not treated immediately, excessive bleeding……”

Rimon closed his eyes tightly in the middle of speaking. It was a will not to imagine beyond that.

“Is there no way to contact the boat?”

“There’s a telegraph on the speedboat for transfer.”

“Contact them first then.”

“Yes.”

Rimon couldn’t calm down and kept shaking his legs. For a very brief moment, he thought it would have been nice to have a machine that could communicate without wires.

How long had he been lost in thought? The morning sun began to sneak in through the window.

And one tactless maid approached Rimon, who was in deep contemplation, and said:

“Excuse me…… Secretary. I’m sorry for the early morning, but the Duchess of Artenbach has sent a letter.”

Rimon gestured with his chin for the maid to leave it and go. He didn’t have the mental capacity to care about trivial matters like delivering letters.

‘First, I need to contact the speedboat and find out Askal’s condition. After that……’

Rimon, who was formulating dozens of plans in his head, suddenly looked down. Without realizing it, he was opening the letter sent by the Duchess.

Startled, Rimon tried to close the envelope but stared blankly at the letter with only one line written on it.

A lightbulb went off in Rimon’s head.

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife

I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro

When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.

After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.

Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.

Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.

At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.

Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.

The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.

He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.

[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
