She closed her eyes and surrendered to the process, quickly being adorned by the expert hands of the maids.

Knock knock. A neat knocking sound came just as the dressing neared completion.

“Come in.”

The door to the previously restricted guest room opened.

The person who entered with measured steps was the house steward, practically the power behind this castle.

The white-haired old man with his hair slicked back had an air of dignity that could not be taken lightly, looking more like a knight than a butler.

“Did you call for me, Miss?”

“Yes. What’s the situation?”

Accustomed to getting straight to the point in the Schwarz household, the steward calmly replied.

“I was ordered to bring you.”

Responding with a light smile, Diana stood up. Though she didn’t show it, she was quite nervous.

Even though she had Roderick’s permission, the actual master of the house was the Duke.

She was a lady who knew her manners. She had to meet the Duke face to face and request asylum.

To assess the situation in the capital, she inevitably needed the Duke’s help.

Walking down the heavy, silent corridor, she felt like she was meeting the final boss.

The steward, standing before the imposing door, looked back at her through his rimless glasses, silently asking if she was ready.

Taking a deep breath, she composed her face with a dignified air.

The steward’s eyes widened slightly at the sudden shift in her demeanor.

He had heard she was a notorious recluse, a lady who never entered society.

Commoners even joked about how flawed the reclusive lady might be.

Yet, the lady before him was nothing like the lackluster, flawed noble they described.

She had the poise befitting the sister of the prospective imperial fiancée. Indeed, unfounded rumors were unreliable.

Her pink eyes, beneath slightly raised eyelids, glowed calmly.

Snapped back to reality by her gaze, the steward knocked on the door.

“Your Grace, Miss Beatus has arrived.”

“Oh, sister-in-law!”

While the steward was knocking, Felice approached her cheerfully.

Holding a stack of documents at his side, he seemed to have business in the office.

“Why are you here alone? Where’s my brother?”
Roderick had left to reorganize the knight order. For some reason, he seemed reluctant for her to meet his father. She had to sneak in several times to avoid his interference.

“Please come in.”

The office door opened, and Diana, responding with a slight smile to Felice, stepped inside.

Felice quickly followed her in.

Scribble, scribble.

Despite the presence of numerous officials and attendants in the spacious room, only the sound of quill pens scratching on paper filled the office.

For several minutes now, the Duke, engrossed in paperwork, had said nothing.

Was this some kind of punishment? A rudeness to the guest. Felice glanced at his father and coughed to get his attention.

Finally, the ceaseless writing stopped. The Duke lifted his gaze to Diana and then to his son.

Although now retired from the battlefield, the Duke’s eyes were still sharp.

Felice swallowed hard under that piercing gaze but maintained his smile.

“Father. Sister-in-law has just recovered and is still weak.”

As if asking whether they should keep standing, the Duke looked at Diana obliquely, his gaze eerily reminiscent of Roderick’s.

“Lady.”

Declan Schwarz, the head of the Schwarz family with a distinguished middle-aged appearance, had a voice that pressed down on people with its weight.

His arrogant eyes, indicative of a man at the pinnacle of power, scrutinized her.

Unintimidated by his gaze, Diana moved fluidly like flowing water.

“Greetings, Your Grace. I am Diana Beatus.”

She placed one hand on her chest and lifted the hem of her dress with the other, bending her knee and bowing her head. Her poise was impeccable.

“Thank you for inviting me.”

“I have no recollection of inviting you.”

It seemed as if he was implying that his sons had stirred up unnecessary trouble without his permission.

“Allowing me to stay in the castle is akin to granting an invitation.”

“…”

So, what do you want? His eyes demanded. Speak your piece and leave. Wow, this father and son are really alike.

Her light blue hair resembled Felice’s, but her deep blue eyes mirrored Roderick’s. Encouraged by this familiarity, Diana gathered her courage.

“Your Grace, I preemptively seek your forgiveness for my impudence.”

“…”

“What? What are you saying, sister-in-law?”

Diana took a deep breath and boldly stepped forward.

“Father.”

With a powerful thud, she struck the mahogany desk.

“Please give your son to me!”

The Duke remained expressionless, but the shock reverberated among the others.

She was reclaiming the proposal she had missed. Satisfied, her lips curved upwards. She had always wanted to do something like this.

Insane. Aghast murmurs arose from the aides.

Soon after, the Duke’s eyebrows quirked up, an expression uncannily similar to Roderick’s.

When the male lead is punished by carrying the female lead’s child and having periods like a woman

“I’ve given birth to two children for you, yet you still think about him.

Was I nothing but his substitute to you from beginning to end?”
