#Prologue

The natural touch of our hands brushing together felt strange.

Is this how it feels to be touching someone you shouldn’t?

It’s absurd to think this way about the man who’s about to become my husband.

But any woman in my position would think the same, no matter who she was.

He already had someone he loved.

‘Rachel Rosemary.’

Among the nobility of the Empire, there was no one who didn’t know her.

After all, the love story between Crown Prince Cassius and his aide Rachel had become a staple subject of countless stage plays.

The reason their romance had become such a major topic was simple.

Rachel was merely the daughter of a viscount—how intriguing it was that the Crown Prince himself loved such a woman.

The Cinderella story, precisely because it was so classic, captured everyone’s attention.

Many even placed bets on her fate.

Would the viscount’s daughter ultimately surpass the title of Crown Princess and ascend to Empress? Or would she end up merely as his mistress, just another fleeting romance among the Imperial family?

That ending… unfortunately, turned out to be a tragic one.

If it had been a beautiful happy ending, he wouldn’t be holding my hand like this.

In the distance, the wolf emblem symbolizing the guardian deity of the Wolfdor Empire comes into view.

The brutal image of the wolf, so unfitting for the solemnity of a wedding ceremony, seems to foreshadow the future of this man and me.

Beautiful petals, befitting a wedding, drifted down softly onto the slow-moving road.

I looked up at him—the man who would soon be my husband.

His expression, utterly devoid of emotion, still boasted an achingly beautiful profile.

Yet that face belonged more to a coffin than to a wedding, creating a stark dissonance with the setting.

‘What on earth could you be thinking, marrying me?’

Of course, as a member of the Imperial family destined to lead Wolfdor, he had the duty—regardless of his feelings—to produce an heir. A loveless marriage was simply part of that obligation.

Just as every royal before him had done, he, too, couldn’t escape this duty.

Had there ever even been someone in the Imperial family who married for romantic love?

Granted, if that woman had still been alive, Cassius might have been the exception… but…

The woman he loved so deeply, ‘Rachel,’ had died seven years ago.

To be precise, she had disappeared seven years ago—and after all this time without a trace, no one but Cassius believed she wasn’t dead.

My husband’s love for her was this intense, this painfully sorrowful.

Suddenly, I wondered.

Was she still buried somewhere deep within his heart, never even laid to rest?

Or had he finally accepted what everyone else had been saying—that it was time to let her go?

Though society painted Rachel as a Cinderella, the truth was far from that.

She was an extraordinary talent who, through sheer determination, had shattered the glass ceiling and earned herself a viscountcy.

Yet the late Emperor refused to acknowledge their relationship.

Her entire effort was dismissed solely because of her lowly birth.

And Cassius, too, had made incredible efforts for her sake.

He plunged into dangerous battlefields—situations a Crown Prince never needed to enter—just to protect their love.

It was widely known that he had secured a promise from his father: if he returned victorious, he would be allowed to marry her.

Rachel’s brilliant mind and Crown Prince Cassius’s unmatched martial prowess always brought back news of victory, and only a happy ending seemed to await them.

Yet their deeply passionate story ended in tragedy… the moment Rachel vanished.

According to one newspaper, the reason behind her mysterious disappearance remains unknown to this day.

Naturally, Cassius couldn’t accept it.

He mobilized every resource, scouring the entire Empire solely to find her.

But fairy-tale happy endings don’t happen in reality.

Even now, after seven long years, he has yet to find even her body—and likely never will.

My eyes fall upon the large hand holding mine.

Yes. After seven years, it’s time you accepted this marriage.

Humans are creatures of forgetting, and that forgetfulness is perhaps the only blessing bestowed by the gods. Surely, divine grace has touched him as well.

Chapter 115 Chapter 114

I try to calm my uneasy heart.

From now on, I am his wife—and that will never change. So naturally, his heart will eventually turn to me.

In the distance, I see Emperor Harold Wolfdor, who had pushed so insistently for our marriage.

The Emperor had always wanted Cassius to marry the daughter of the prestigious Snowfell ducal house.

Diarobe Snowfell, head of the Snowfell family, was a formidable power—and the only way to rein in his threatening influence was through a marriage alliance with his daughter.

Thus, the Emperor’s desire for this union was clearly driven not by paternal concern for his son, but by political convenience—to maintain a balance of power.

As a result, it’s Vivian Snowfell—not Rachel—who now holds Cassius’s hand.

‘And that Vivian Snowfell… is me now.’

From a practical standpoint, this marriage makes perfect sense.

It preserves the dignity of the Imperial house.

Yet one thing remains puzzling.

‘After rejecting countless marriage proposals for seven long years… he finally accepts Vivian Snowfell’s hand?’

Currently, Snowfell is the prime suspect behind Rachel’s disappearance.

The suspects have been narrowed down to two:

Diarobe Snowfell, head of the Snowfell house—or Vivian Snowfell herself, who had always openly admired him.

And yet…

‘He’s marrying the daughter of the very house that might have killed the woman he loved?’

It makes absolutely no sense.

Of course, the Emperor’s pressure must have played a role—but Cassius had more than enough power to defy him.

He had countless other options.

Could it be true, as people say, that over these past seven years he’s forgotten Rachel and genuinely fallen in love with Vivian Snowfell?

Because his present love is so sweet it overshadows all memories of first love?

But if that’s the case, why does he stand here like this?

As I face him at the officiant’s cue, things I couldn’t see before become startlingly clear.

His face, as if only half of it remained.

Eyes hollow and burned-out, like embers barely glowing.

A pallor so translucent it seemed ghostly…

Slowly, my gaze lowered—and was drawn to his pale, slender fingers.

No, more precisely—to the ring on his finger.

That was unmistakably the ring he’d exchanged with Rachel.

He’s wearing it as he marries me. How utterly absurd.

His intentions remain impossible to fathom.

But one fact is certain.

He has taken my hand. He is now my husband.

And that thought brings me comfort.

If Cassius hadn’t taken Vivian’s hand, I never would have had the chance to save him.

The voice of my contractor echoed in my mind.

‘Seduce Cassius within a year. Do that, and I’ll free him from his death sentence. Fail, and you’ll die as well.’

It was Cassius who saved my life—my life that should have already ended.

In my previous life, to rescue my annihilated family and me, he made a pact with a great sorcerer and forced a regression. As a result, he became terminally cursed, while I, oblivious to his sacrifice, have lived happily ever since.

But now that I know everything…

Betting my life to save him is a choice I’ve long prepared myself for.

‘However, you must never reveal to anyone that you are Rachel.’

That’s right. I… am Rachel.

Though it’s a truth I can never speak aloud again.

Anyway, the contractor’s terms were simple.

If I seduce Cassius within a year while hiding my identity, we both survive. If I fail, we both die.

Harsh as the terms were, compared to Cassius—who risked his very life—it was a surprisingly merciful contract. Besides, the condition wasn’t impossible.

How well do I know Cassius? There’s nothing about him I don’t know. Above all, he loved me.

A mere change of appearance couldn’t erase a love that burned so fiercely.

So I accepted the entire contract far too lightly.

Without giving a single thought to the future.

#1. I’m Actually ‘That Woman’

When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was a familiar ceiling.

An ornate chandelier, walls intricately patterned with snowflake motifs, statues delicately gilded in gold…

‘Could this possibly be… Snowfell? No, that can’t be.’

I shook my head—and fragmented scenes flashed through my pounding skull like a reel of memories.

A girl with cool blue hair looked at me.

Innocent smiles bloomed on both our faces as we gazed at each other.

The blue-haired girl whispered tenderly to me,

“Rachel, you’re so beautiful—you’ll definitely become Crown Princess.”

Back then, becoming Crown Princess was every young noblewoman’s dream.

In the Empire, where a partner’s status and power became one’s own, the Crown Prince was the ultimate man.

“Who wouldn’t fall for you at first sight? So, as a token of friendship, take this. Don’t pretend you don’t remember it once you become Crown Princess.”

Her giggling face instantly transformed from a child into a grown woman.

The warm smile she once wore on spring days now twisted into a sharp, mocking sneer.

And simultaneously, the colorful world turned monochrome.

Only the crimson curl of her rose-tinted lips stood out vividly against her icy eyes.

“So, you’re the Crown Prince’s aide now? How very congratulatory.”

She smiled warmly, like sunshine, as she spoke.

“Couldn’t you just step aside from the Crown Prince, just once? You know you can never be with him—your status is far too low.”

The ease with which she declared our love impossible because of my low birth made it clear she had changed.

And yet…

“We’re friends, aren’t we?”

That single sentence fooled me again and again.

“Did you compliment me to His Highness today? Did you mention I’d be attending this banquet?”

That girl—and more precisely, her house, ‘Snowfell’—ultimately dragged me and my family, Rosemary, into the mud.

“Please, save my family. You know the truth—it’s all a lie.”

“…….”

“If you tell your father, he’ll make everything disappear. He loves you so much.”

I knelt before her.

Not for myself—but because my family had to survive.

Because they had to live.

But she—no, she—turned away from me, kneeling at her feet.

“I’m sorry. I can’t do that.”

Regret With All Your Might (Completed Main Story)

27/12/2025
Side Story 5 Side Story 4

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
