Things have gone south. Tae Ha’s eyes stiffened.

“You wouldn’t understand even if I told you. It’s someone I met while I was at Berry House.”

Tae Ha, well aware this conversation was about him, felt an inexplicable prickling in his chest.

He couldn’t speak up, yet he couldn’t stay silent either.

“But it’s a new agency, so they don’t even have a website yet. That seemed a bit odd, but since it came through Director Yoon, I trusted it. Now that I think of it, I should probably get in touch.”

Eun Seo turned her body away from Tae Ha, reading the number “9” on the LED clock stuck to the wall, as she tried to slip out of his embrace—but Tae Ha clamped down firmly on her wrist.

“It’s too late. Call later.”

“No, that person doesn’t sleep even at midnight. We used to talk often. They’re always awake until dawn because of a heavy workload. Kind of pitiful, right? Come to think of it, I haven’t heard from them lately.”

Tilting her head in confusion, Eun Seo got up and left.

Tae Ha bit his lip with a hollow laugh. His late-night call to “Lee Tae Young,” made out of longing for Eun Seo, was now coming back to haunt him.

Would she be angry he’d deceived her? Would she understand and forgive his yearning? Or would she be disappointed once she learned the translation job had fallen through?

For once, Tae Ha’s feelings were chaotic, impossible to pin down.

“Should we start our own agency?”

Tae Ha, adjusting his tie’s blade while looking into the mirror, spoke as if it weren’t a joke at all.
