Ha Eun pressed her hand against the cold windowsill and leaned her head slightly out the window. She didn’t care about the falling raindrops.

There was something on her mind more than her carefully styled hair, which she’d spent so long setting.

Hoping her ominous premonition was wrong, Ha Eun bit hard on her lips, which burned despite the humid weather.

Two people walked side by side under one umbrella. The tall man held a coffee carrier in one hand and gripped the umbrella handle with the other, tilting it more than halfway toward the woman.

His back and left shoulder were already claimed by the rain, fading from their original color, yet he seemed determined not to let even a single raindrop—so generous toward himself—touch the woman.

If the man hadn’t been holding the coffee carrier, if one hand had been free, would he have wrapped his arm around the woman walking beside him and pulled her close?

Her heart pounded wildly. The more she looked, the surer she became—it was definitely Tae Ha.

Ha Eun gripped the steering wheel tightly, pressed the accelerator, and drove straight toward the GK Hotel office building.

She waited there for them, who were still on the road.

Soon after, the two she’d been waiting for appeared. Since the rain-splattered rearview mirror obscured her view, Ha Eun rolled the window down halfway and watched them sharply through narrowed eyes.

Moments later, Ha Eun’s eyes widened fiercely.

It was definitely Song Eun Seo. She’d been mostly hidden within Tae Ha’s coat, making her identity uncertain—yet her bad feeling had been confirmed.

If she was just an employee, what kind of job could she possibly be doing to receive such lavish protection under Tae Ha’s umbrella?

Suddenly, she recalled Tae Ha abruptly stepping into the T Jewelry boutique at the department store. Back then, she’d convinced herself it was because he’d spotted his cousin Jung Woo and deliberately ignored it.

But above all, what had happened at the banquet made it impossible to overlook Eun Seo’s presence—the relentless gaze fixed on her throughout the night, the soaked clothes, and his reassurance that it was “fine.”
