Hyun Young and Yoon Hee walked slowly and sat down side by side on a bench.

A slightly chilly breeze brushed pleasantly against their skin. The warm sunlight made it already feel like early spring had arrived.

Meanwhile, Yoon Hee’s health had greatly improved.

“How are you feeling?”

“Much better. Other than my leg being a little uncomfortable, I’m fine.”

Yoon Hee gently stroked the cane placed beside her. Seeing it, Hyun Young’s heart ached.

“Chae Eun must’ve had a really tough time.”

“Well, yeah. She’s been working so hard taking care of her sick mom.”

“What does Chae Eun plan to do now? Professor Kim said you might be ready for discharge soon.”

“She’ll have to. Chae Eun will probably start looking for a job again once I’m out.”

As the conversation turned to Chae Eun, a shadow fell over Yoon Hee’s face. For months, her daughter had clung to her, staying by her bedside. She’d lost so much weight from dozing off on the uncomfortable hospital cot and tending to Yoon Hee’s every need.

Watching this, Yoon Hee felt both deeply grateful and guilty. Even when she insisted Chae Eun hire a caregiver and get proper rest at home, her daughter stubbornly refused.

“She’s always been so childish and caused me so much worry, yet there’s no daughter more devoted than her. Taking care of a sick person like this might end up killing a healthy one.”

Yoon Hee spoke bitterly. Hyun Young nodded in agreement.

“Don’t you think Chae Eun will only be able to reclaim her own life once you’re back to how you were before you got sick?”
