“Do you really think so? Are you regretting it now?”

Hyun Young couldn’t answer Yoon Hee’s question, her expression conflicted as she stared only at her teacup.

Yoon Hee gave her a faint smile and offered some advice.

“Don’t overcomplicate things. Don’t cling to a relationship that wasn’t meant to be.”

“I guess you’re right.”

“It’s heaven’s destined connection—how can any human change that?”

Yoon Hee gently reproached Hyun Young.

“I say this because I feel sorry for all of you—Teacher Kim, the child, and Tae Kyung. Doesn’t it break your heart to see Tae Kyung unable to recognize his own child right in front of him? And what about Min Jun, who can’t even tell his real father standing before him?”

“Min Jun…”

Hyun Young’s heart felt as though it were being stabbed repeatedly with a knife.

The very things she had feared most were now happening to her beloved son Tae Kyung—all because of her.

“But it’s not an easy issue to resolve.”

“Exactly. That’s why I’m telling you—since it’s such a difficult problem, don’t make it even harder.”

Uncharacteristically for her usual calm and gentle demeanor, Yoon Hee clicked her tongue.

The two drank their tea in silence. Outside, the children’s noisy chatter began to fade, and Hyun Young stood up.
