“Mom! Did I do well?”

“Oh, yeah. My Min Jun did great. But here, you can’t call me ‘Mom’—you have to call me ‘Teacher.'”

“Pii, all the kids already know you’re my mom.”

Min Jun, wearing checkered shorts, a white shirt, and even a checkered necktie, looked like the picture of a cute little gentleman. But at Seo Ha’s remark, he pouted his lips.

Seo Ha’s eyes held amusement, yet her voice remained firm.

“Still, you can’t call me ‘Mom’ at kindergarten.”

“Understood, Teacher.”

“Good boy. My son.”

“You tell me to call you ‘Teacher,’ but you still call me your son.”

“I’m sorry, child Kim Min Jun.”

Seo Ha gently stroked Min Jun’s jet-black, glossy hair.

Min Jun tightly wrapped his arms around Seo Ha’s waist.

“Can you be ‘Mom’ just for today? All the other kids have their moms here.”

Hearing Min Jun’s pleading, whisper-soft voice, Seo Ha’s heart grew tender and damp.

“Teacher Seo Ha, it’s Sky Class’s turn next.”

“Okay, I’ll go. Min Jun, I’m sorry. Right now, Mom is Sky Class’s teacher, alright? Even if I’m called Sky Class’s teacher right now, I’m still Min Jun’s mom, so I’m cheering for you.”

“I know.”

Min Jun buried his face in Seo Ha’s skirt.

At that moment, a kind male voice from behind comforted him.

“Min Jun, Teacher Ttun Ttun will be your dad instead—just like at the sports day last time. Let’s lend our mom to the Sky Class big brothers for just a bit.”

“Okay.”

“Thank you, Teacher Min Seob. I’ll leave Min Jun in your care.”

Min Seob waved, sending Seo Ha off. She kept turning back to look at Min Jun several times before finally walking toward where the Sky Class children waited.

Joo Ri, homeroom teacher of Sunshine Class, stood waiting with a clearly displeased expression.

“Hey, Teacher Seo Ha. I know you have your own child here, but you’re still a teacher at this school. What will the other parents say? Please pay more attention to your class kids.”

“I’m sorry.”

Seo Ha clasped her hands together and bowed her head. Chae Eun, the Sky Class homeroom teacher standing nearby, looked at Seo Ha with sympathetic concern.

“Teacher Joo Ri, don’t be so hard on Teacher Seo Ha. I can handle our class by myself. Besides, it’s not like we’re strangers—it’s just a brief moment while Min Jun performs. He’d be so upset if his mom wasn’t there.”

“Then she should’ve come back faster.”

Joo Ri persisted in blaming Seo Ha, who had nothing to say in response.

It was already a great kindness that they allowed her to work here while raising her own son, Min Jun.

“Teacher Joo Ri, I’m sorry. Teacher Chae Eun, I’ll take the kids to the restroom and be right back.”

“No, let’s go together. Anyway, the 7-year-old Sunshine Class performance and the special celebration act are coming up next. And it’s faster if we both go. Of all days, why did we have to hold the recital on the same day as Emil Kindergarten?”

Chae Eun sighed and led the Sky Class children out of the backstage waiting area. Seo Ha followed behind, trailing at the very end of the line.

Emil Kindergarten, holding its recital in another hall of the same venue today, was popular among young mothers for its fresh, diverse programs and expensive tuition fees.

Moreover, Emil Kindergarten was attended by many children from upper-class families living in townhouses.

In contrast, Onnuri Kindergarten, where Seo Ha worked, maintained low tuition fees per Principal Yoon Hee’s management policy and ran safe, unremarkable programs.

It wasn’t especially popular among young mothers who were passionate about their children’s education. Thanks to its affordable fees, it enrolled many children from less privileged households.

As if aware of adult-world hierarchies, the children seemed slightly more subdued than usual on recital day.

“Kids who need to use the restroom, follow me and we’ll be right back. The rest of you wait here with Teacher Seo Ha.”

Seo Ha stayed in the performance hall lobby with the children who weren’t going to the restroom.

While gently adjusting the kids’ performance outfits and glancing toward the restroom, she suddenly froze upon spotting a familiar figure in the distance.

Her heart turned to ice, and she felt all the blood drain from her hands and feet.

‘There’s no way… He can’t possibly be here.’

It had been five years since she’d hidden herself away completely. He was the one who never searched for her—not even a single phone call.

Seo Ha fought the urge to keep glancing his way and focused instead on tending to the children.

Just as Chae Eun emerged from the restroom with the last child, and Seo Ha was about to return to the waiting room, she saw him again—clearly this time.

It was unmistakably him—the man she’d longed for over five years. He hadn’t changed at all.

Tae Kyung was holding a girl around Min Jun’s age, her hair in twin braids, and smiling brightly.

The little girl clung tightly around Tae Kyung’s neck, and he gently stroked her back with affectionate care.

It was exactly how he used to look at her—warm, tender, and full of love.

Tae Kyung had once smiled at Seo Ha with that same gentle brightness and touched her with such careful tenderness.

Now, watching him with someone else’s child, she felt a sharp, tearing pain rip through her heart.

He had been the one she missed so deeply all this time.

As the years passed, she’d thought her resentment and blame had faded until they were nearly gone. She’d even prayed only for his well-being. Yet now, seeing him happy just as she’d wished, her heart ached so fiercely that tears welled in her eyes.

Any observer could clearly see he was a loving father—the kind whose eyes spilled over with affection for his child.

‘Maybe… maybe if things had been different, the child he’s holding now could’ve been ours.’

Seo Ha shook her head sharply and bit down hard on her teeth. It was better to harden her heart against him than to let foolish longing take hold.

Suppressed feelings—hatred, resentment, longing, emotions too complex to name—suddenly surged over her.

She viewed Min Jun as solely her own child.

She could never accept as Min Jun’s father the man she’d once found in bed with another woman.

A father like that wasn’t needed in her child’s life.

[This is the timeline separator]

After the performance ended, all the kindergarten children went home with their parents.

Min Jun waited alone in a corner of the backstage room, reading a picture book while Seo Ha finished cleaning up.

Principal Yoon Hee sat beside Min Jun, silently watching the pages he turned.

Min Jun had already read through the picture book twice by the time Seo Ha finally finished tidying up.

“Everyone worked hard preparing for today’s recital. We should have a staff dinner—but it’s gotten too late, so let’s do it tomorrow instead.”

Yoon Hee smiled gently at Min Jun, who was nodding off from exhaustion.

The kindergarten teachers piled equipment and supplies into the school shuttle van.

Min Seob also loaded his own belongings into his car, then walked over and lifted Min Jun into his arms.

Min Jun, comfortable in Min Seob’s embrace, nestled trustingly against him and drifted off to sleep.

“Teacher Kwak, could you please take Min Jun home? I’d feel uneasy having Teacher Kim take him alone and hail a taxi so late at night.”

“Yes, Principal. Don’t worry—I’ll make sure he gets home safely.”

“Thank you, Teacher Kwak.”

Yoon Hee nodded with a kind smile.

Chae Eun gave Min Seob a silent cheer, mouthing “Fighting!” while lowering her clenched fist from above to below.

She then quickly walked out of the building together with Yoon Hee.

Min Seob’s face flushed red. Seo Ha, feeling awkward, reached out her hands toward him.

“I’ll take Min Jun—he’s heavy.”

“He’s not heavy at all. At most, he’s just a five-year-old child. It’s quite windy. Let me go get the car. Wait inside the building so you don’t catch cold.”

“Thank you, as always.”

“It’s nothing—thanks to Min Jun.”

Min Seob carefully handed the sleeping Min Jun over to Seo Ha.

Despite his large, muscular frame, Min Seob moved swiftly and nimbly as he dashed outside.

[This is the timeline separator]

“Thank you so much, Brother-in-law. Of all times, he had to be on a business trip to Hong Kong.”

“Not at all, Sister-in-law. It was nice seeing Ji An too. This little one’s gotten quite heavy now.”

Tae Kyung handed Ji An a huge bouquet made of decorated egg-shaped chocolate candies filled with toys—the latest trend among kids these days.

Ji An’s eyes widened with delight; she hugged Tae Kyung’s neck and planted a kiss on his cheek.

“Mom, can I eat this?”

“Not now. Just a little tomorrow. If you eat too much, your eczema will flare up again.”

Ji An’s mother frowned slightly as she warned her daughter, who immediately looked ready to cry.

“I’m sorry—I didn’t know. I brought chocolate because I heard kids love it.”

“Her eczema has improved a lot since we moved here. It’s fine if she has just a little. It’s tough making her watch everyone else eat while she can’t.”

Ji An’s mother looked at her daughter with pity.

“Jin Seok said once she’s fully recovered, they’ll return to Seoul. Staying here long-term isn’t ideal due to education concerns.”

“Still, health comes first.”

“Oh, by the way—didn’t your company’s coding program just get accepted as an after-school specialty course at Emil Kindergarten?”

“Yes, thanks to the principal’s kind support. We’re still a very new startup, so we’re lacking in many ways.”

Though Tae Kyung spoke modestly of having just launched a startup, it had already been five years since he’d left HY Group—where he underwent heir training—to establish his own company.

It took him two full years to develop the program, then three more years traveling nationwide, knocking on the doors of every well-known kindergarten.

His timing aligned perfectly with the rising trend of coding education, allowing his company to grow steadily.

Some said it was because he was the second son of HY—one of Korea’s largest conglomerates—or simply due to luck.

But Tae Kyung had thrown himself into work day and night, solely to forget Seo Ha.

Bitter memories surfaced, and he gave a wry smile.

Unaware of his inner turmoil, Ji An’s mother cheerfully continued.

“Aren’t you being too humble? Everyone already talks about Hedgebot whenever AI coding programs for kids come up. Ji An absolutely adores the Hedgebot you gave her last time.”

“I’m glad. If you ever need anything, just let me know. I can easily provide a coding program account. Nothing’s too good for Ji An.”

Tae Kyung gently tapped Ji An’s nose.

Ji An was completely absorbed in staring at the chocolate candies tucked into the bouquet.

“Brother-in-law, you should get married soon. You love kids so much—imagine how much you’d adore your own baby!”

“It’s because she’s Ji An that I love her so much.”

Tae Kyung offered a friendly smile and casually turned his head—then froze completely.

His expression twisted instantly.

It wasn’t crying, nor anger—it was a storm of tangled emotions too complex to name.

Inside him, a whirlwind of feelings churned violently, unable to break free.

Kim Seo Ha. It was her.

The very woman he’d spent five years desperately trying—and failing—to forget.

The woman who’d vanished without a trace, as if she’d never existed.

And now, right before his eyes, she stood holding a boy who looked at least seven years old.

She gazed down at the child with tender, loving eyes—the exact same beautiful gaze she once reserved for him.

Tae Kyung’s pupils darkened like storm clouds.

Seeing her—the woman who’d cast him into despair and left him wallowing in mud—felt like being dragged back into darkness just as he’d finally crawled out.

Forgetting Ji An and her mother entirely, Tae Kyung strode purposefully toward her.

He couldn’t tell whether this was reality or a dream.

If it was a dream, it was so horrifying he feared he’d never sleep again.

Only when he finally stood before her did he realize this nightmare was real—more devastating than any dream.

He grasped her wrist—the same slender, pale wrist he’d held hundreds of times before, always afraid it might shatter if he held too tightly.

Afraid this, too, might vanish if it wasn’t real.

His lips twisted bitterly as he spoke in a voice sharpened with icy coldness.

“So this is where you ran off to?”

“You… you’ve mistaken me for someone else.”

Her eyes trembling violently, Seo Ha forced out the words, her voice strained from Tae Kyung’s grip on her wrist.

Min Jun, still in Seo Ha’s arms, stirred awake, rubbed his eyes—and upon seeing Min Seob approaching from afar, shouted loudly:

“Dad!”

Regret With All Your Might (Completed Main Story)

Side Story 5 Side Story 4

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
