Minjun played joyfully at the kids’ cafe. The child fell asleep with a happy expression on the way back home after having my favorite cream pasta for dinner. Hyojae smiled while looking at the sleeping Minjun through the rearview mirror.
Seoha gently stroked the child’s hair as he lay on her lap.
“Minjun has a subtle personality. He didn’t seem at all bothered by the older kids at the kids’ cafe earlier, did he?”
“Yeah. Minjun’s personality isn’t gentle; it’s more on the strong side. He’s assertive and stubborn.”
“Where do you think Han Taekyung’s blood went? Like father, like son.”
Hyojae chuckled. Despite the lingering emptiness in her heart, she could momentarily forget the pain thanks to Seoha and Minjun.
Seoha felt uneasy about not properly comforting Hyojae earlier today.
“Since Taekyung asked you to come to his house earlier, let’s go. Minjun is asleep now, and he’ll probably sleep well until tomorrow morning. Since Dad is here, let’s go to his place for a drink.”
“Really? I apologize to Father, but tonight, I want to have a drink with you.”
“Sure. Let’s drink to send off that scoundrel and celebrate a new beginning.”

Hyojae deliberately shrugged her shoulders. She considered even Hyojae’s grieving heart to be a luxury for that scoundrel.
Seoha and Hyojae left Minjun sleeping at home and went to Taekyung’s house.
Seeing Seoha naturally entering the password for the front door lock, Hyojae’s eyes widened.
“Now we’re sharing the front door password?”
“Huh? Uh… Well, it happened.”
As Seoha mumbled, Hyojae shot a glance at her. Seoha’s face turned slightly red. Just then, Taekyung’s voice came from inside.
“Seoha?”
“Yes. It’s me. Hyojae is with me.”
Taekyung appeared with an apron tied around him, wearing gloves stained with seasoning.
Hyojae couldn’t speak, surprised by the unexpected sight.

‘The formidable Han Taekyung cooks?’
It was a strange sight of the notorious Great Devil Han Taekyung.
“Hello?”
“Come on in, both of you.”
Taekyung grinned. Seoha looked at Taekyung with a puzzled expression.
While extending her neck to look inside, she asked, “What are you doing?”
“I was making a simple late-night snack. I made whelk salad and fish cake soup. Is that okay?”
“Yes, it sounds delicious. What about dinner, Oppa?”
“I had it with Dad. What about Minjun?”
“He must have been tired today. He’s sleeping.”

“I see. Since I boiled a lot of your favorite noodles, eat as much as you want.”
Hyojae covered her open mouth with her hand while watching the two people so naturally. Their conversation sounded like that of a newlywed couple.
She wondered when the two of them had become so close.
Considering the Taekyung she met at Songju’s wedding, it didn’t make sense.
The intercom rang at that moment. Kyuwon’s face appeared on the intercom screen.
When Taekyung opened the main entrance door, Kyuwon appeared a while later.
“Did you come?”
“Yeah. I’m hungry. I haven’t eaten anything. Oh? Seoha, hello?”
“Hello? Representative Lee.”
“Kyuwon doesn’t have any friends, so I called him to have dinner together.”
Kyuwon hurriedly tried to cover Taekyung’s mouth. Taekyung shrugged, easily evading Kyuwon’s attack.

“Hey! I’m playing with him because he has no friends!”
“I only need Seoha.”
“Oh! Seo Seo Seo Seo! Seoha, please slap him!”
“Haha. Come in quickly. I made fish cake soup and whelk salad. Oh, this is my friend Lee Hyojae. Taekyung is my senior from college.”
Seoha introduced Hyojae to Kyuwon with a smile, and Kyuwon politely greeted her.
“Hello? I’m Kyuwon, a friend of Taekyung.”
“Yes. Hello? I’m Lee Hyojae.”
Kyuwon blushed shyly. Taekyung looked mischievously at Kyuwon.
“Come in quickly. Today is a celebration party for Hyojae’s breakup.”
“Oh, Senior! Why, would you do that?”

“Usually, you have to spread the news everywhere for new people to come. Let’s have a drink today and forget about it.”
“Yes….”
Surprisingly, Taekyung’s cooking skills were excellent. The four of them laughed and chatted like they did in their college days.
Since Kyuwon attended a different university from the rest, he listened to Taekyung’s college stories, and his face crinkled with laughter.
“It’s regrettable that I didn’t attend the same university as Han Taekyung.”
“Yeah. If I did, I might have met Hyojae earlier.”
“W-What are you talking about? Hmph.”
Teasing Kyuwon, Taekyung looked mischievous. Kyuwon was overly embarrassed. Hyojae, apparently drunk, just smiled vaguely.
“That’s right. If Kyuwon were there, it would have been more fun!”
“Haha. That’s right. Too bad. Very regrettable.”

When Kyuwon accepted it, Hyojae leaned toward him, laughed softly, then shook her head.
“Where is that bad guy! I treated him so well! Kim Seoha! You shouldn’t dedicate yourself to Senior Taekyung. It’s a waste of dedication!”
Suddenly, Hyojae remembered her ex-boyfriend again and gave Seoha advice while cursing him.
Taekyung looked at Hyojae as if she were ridiculous, and Kyuwon didn’t know what to do, feeling helpless.
Hyojae stood up suddenly and went to the bathroom.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
