Did Yezar just play a joke on me? He, who always used to get flustered by my teasing.
“Yezar, don’t joke around.”
“I was speaking seriously.”
“But why does that ideal type sound so much like me?”
Since he kept denying it, I pointedly called him out. Then he calmly met my gaze and replied nonchalantly.
“Could it be because my type happens to be someone like you, my lady?”
“Fine. I won’t ask anymore. Let’s just stop this.”
How could I possibly be his type? My appearance and personality are completely different from Bertisha’s. And there’s no way his preferences suddenly changed in such a short time.
Huff. Really, this man. When I first met him, he seemed utterly dull and clueless. But now I see he has a sly side too.
Since I probably wouldn’t get any further answers, I decided to give up for today and go out for a walk, turning to leave.

But then Yezar asked me a question.
“Then, what kind of person is your ideal type, my lady?”
“You already know the conditions I set for a marriage partner, don’t you?”
“Those were conditions for a spouse. Isn’t that different from an ideal type?”
He smoothly blocked my attempt to evade the question. Why did he need to know my preferences anyway? I’d only asked about his ideal type to help him move on from his past love.
“Are you really that curious?”
“Yes, I am curious.”
“Hmm……”
Since he insisted on knowing, I couldn’t just refuse to answer. I fell into brief contemplation. Ideal type. In other words, my preference in men.
“If possible, I’d prefer someone handsome. Since my eyes tilt upwards and make me look stern, I’d like someone gentle and warm-looking.”

I didn’t dislike these eyes—after all, they were a trait of the villainess—but still, for an ideal type, I imagined softer, downward-tilting eyes. Someone with a puppy-like appearance seemed easier to get along with than a prickly cat type.
“I dislike loneliness, so I’d like someone who laughs at my words and has a beautiful smile.”
After enduring unbearable silence during my secluded years, I preferred someone who listened well and smiled often.
“And though I’m not sure if it’s because I handle swords, I’d like someone capable of protecting themselves. Tall, well-built, and ideally someone who could spar with me and stay by my side…”
“…Wait a moment! My lady!”
“Yes? I still had more to say.”
“That… that ideal type…”
“Yes?”
“Are you playing a joke on me too?”
“What are you talking about?”

Why was his face suddenly flushed? And when had I ever played a joke on him?
“The ideal type you just described… isn’t that exactly me?”
Surprised, I slowly retraced my words in my mind. Soft, warm puppy-like eyes that don’t tilt upwards. Someone who laughs at my words and has a beautiful smile. Tall, well-built, capable of self-defense, and willing to spar with me and stay close…
Oh. That’s right. That’s Yezar, isn’t it? Did I unconsciously think of him as my ideal type? Otherwise, how could someone who perfectly matches my description be standing right in front of me?
‘If Yezar played a joke on me, then I essentially just confessed my true preference. How could this happen?’
I murmured to myself in astonishment.
“Well… it seems my ideal type was Yezar all along… Otherwise, how could someone fit so perfectly?”
“P-Please stop joking.”
I wasn’t joking. He had made me realize something I hadn’t even known myself, and now my mind was in complete chaos.
So, I was currently married to the man who matched my ideal type. True, it was a contract marriage, but we shared a bed and daily life…
Drip. Drip. Once again, the image of that beautiful, sweat-drenched man appeared in my vision. Despite my efforts to avoid looking at him, my gaze couldn’t pull away.
‘Dangerous. This is dangerous.’
A red warning light flashed in my mind. But my body ignored it—my hand instinctively reached out without my awareness.
“J-Julietta?”
Startled by his voice, I quickly pulled my hand back. I was in a dangerous state now. I had to leave quickly before I did something reckless.
“S-Sorry! I’ll be going now!”
Why was I like this? Why was my heartbeat racing, my breath short, and my face burning?
I needed to cool down—fast.
“Wait a moment. Stop right there, my lady!”
Why was Yezar chasing after me?

“You just came from the training ground. Go wash up quickly! You don’t need to follow me anymore!”
“You might fall if you rush like that!”
“I won’t fall… Ah!”
The heels of the shoes I wore today were particularly high. As I staggered, I tried to regain my balance and prepare for a safe fall—but his hand swiftly caught my waist first.
“Why are you recklessly running like that?”
“…Sorry.”
He lifted me up and set me upright. Then, after glancing at my shoes, he knelt down on one knee.
“Yezar, what are you doing now? Why are you kneeling?”
I was shocked and tried to pull him up. A duke like him should only kneel before the Emperor.
But he remained completely calm.

“Julietta, your heel seems broken. It’s dangerous. You should change shoes before leaving.”
“Oh. Thank you… You’re right. But the servants might see. You should get up quickly.”
Ignoring my words, he gently touched my foot and carefully removed my shoe. At a loss, I eventually gave up and let his hands guide me.
He placed my shoe neatly aside and stood up. Then he apologized.
“I’m sorry, my lady. I touched your foot in haste.”
“No, it’s fine! It’s okay. You were just trying to help.”
If anything, I felt guilty. I’d nearly fallen while running away, and even broke my heel. Yet Yezar knelt and examined me so carefully.
“I’ll manage from here.”
“But you can’t walk with a broken heel.”
“I can go barefoot quickly. Besides, I’ll probably meet maids along the way.”

Trying not to burden him further, I insisted—but Yezar held me back.
“What if you step on a thorn while walking like that?”
“Oh. But then… what should I do?”
I couldn’t risk falling again while wearing these broken shoes.
“If you don’t mind, may I carry you, my lady?”
“Yezar carrying me? I must be heavy.”
I said it partly because I already felt I’d troubled him enough, and partly because I didn’t want to drain the strength of someone who’d just finished training. But Yezar burst into laughter.
“Kk, hahaha.”
I was flustered by his sudden laugh. What was so funny?
“That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all year.”

“I was being serious, you know?”
Then, with a bright smile, he suddenly lifted me into his arms. I was airborne in an instant, and without thinking, my arms wrapped around his shoulders.
“But you’re so light. For safety, please keep your arms around me, my lady.”
I tried to pull away in embarrassment, but his added remark left me unable to let go. I stayed quietly in his embrace.
‘I’m not a three-year-old child.’
He tended to be overly protective sometimes. A breeze fluttered my skirt. Was it because his arms were so broad? I felt surprisingly comfortable, yet struggled with where to look.
His chest was far too visible. I deliberately avoided looking that way and instead stared blankly at the sky.
“So, why were you running away?”
Denying it was impossible after such a clumsy fall.
“…Well, I had a sudden realization.”
“A realization?”
“That ideal type I described… I wasn’t joking. Yezar really does match my ideal type. So I got flustered…”
Afraid I might do something inappropriate, I couldn’t bring myself to finish. No matter how kindly he treated me or how much he wanted us to live like a real couple, he couldn’t possibly like a shameless wife who touched him without permission.
“Julietta.”
“Yes?”
“If I truly match your ideal type… I’d be very happy.”
Why would he be happy just because he matched my type? But his next words shocked me.
“To be honest, I’ve never been very confident about my appearance.”
What? Did Yezar just say he lacked confidence in his looks?
“Yezar. Who on earth told you such a thing?”
ads
“M-My lady?”
“Tell me immediately! Do you remember me saying I absolutely adore your face?”
“I-I do remember.”
Who dared say anything bad about this divinely gifted beauty that made him doubt himself?
“But why aren’t you confident? With looks like yours, if you’re not confident, who could be?”
“Aha… Is that so?”
“Yes! Of course!”
He smiled kindly, but this wasn’t the time to smile. I was furious—desperately curious who had dared belittle such a handsome man.
“Hmph. Why on earth would you think that? Did someone say something terrible to you?”
“Well… not exactly. I just had my doubts. But after hearing your words, I feel I can be more confident and courageous.”
ads
“Yes! What kind of question is that?”
“Thank you, my lady. Thanks to you, I feel braver.”
I nodded earnestly, unaware of what kind of courage Yezar meant—or that he was already plotting how he’d use his good looks to his advantage in the future.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
