Her voice was so quiet I could barely hear it unless I really concentrated. “Please come in!” I called out, and the door slowly opened.

She had no distinctive physical features, but I guessed she was a maid working in the Empress’s palace.

Ever since that young maid previously came worried she might be pregnant because her period had stopped, word must have spread among her fellow maids—the number of maids visiting the Medical Bureau had noticeably increased.

Most of them worked in the Empress’s palace, and they all shared a few common traits.
