Even if Prince Daniel, looking like a small dog right before my eyes, sparkled with hope and begged me to take his side, I couldn’t possibly side with him while Ian sat right next to me.

Though Ian appeared cold and aloof at first glance, he tended to hold onto wounds from matters like these for a long time. Rather than answering their words and unintentionally causing discord, I decided to avoid answering altogether to secure peace for the moment.

“Shall I just brew a different tea instead? There are other teas available at the Medical Bureau… Prince Daniel, I recall you prefer sweet tea over bitter, correct?”

At my question, Ian frowned slightly, while Daniel seemed somewhat excited.

Apparently, he interpreted my asking only him—and not Ian—about his tea preference as me caring more about him. But I already knew what tea Ian liked, so there was no need to ask him again.

I personally brewed the tea and poured it into their cups. Naturally, I prepared a separate, sweeter blend for Prince Daniel, who favored sweet flavors, while I brewed the same tea as Ian’s and generously added honey to mine.

It felt better to enhance the flavor by adding sweetness rather than masking bitterness with another aroma—besides, I quite liked honey myself.

Truthfully, I’d heard it was somewhat unbecoming of a noble, but since neither of these two would go around saying elsewhere, “Count Hydrangea puts so much honey in her tea that you can’t tell if it’s tea or honey water. She must be utterly clueless about proper tea taste,” I didn’t mind at all.

“Since Prince Daniel mentioned you don’t particularly like honey, please use that syrup instead.”

Daniel’s feelings always showed plainly on his face. Perhaps it was only because I’d spent so much time with Ian—who resembled him—that I could read him so easily; Daniel himself wasn’t particularly expressive. Nonetheless, his face was now filled with disappointment.

It seemed to bother him deeply that I’d asked him about his preference and prepared tea specifically for him, whereas I’d naturally served Ian without even asking.

I deliberately pretended not to notice Daniel’s expression. After all, I couldn’t possibly cater to every whim of a little brat jealous of his own older brother.

“By the way, Count Hydrangea, have you ever attended an opera? Or—do you have any interest in it at all?”

Ian asked this knowing full well I’d never been to an opera house. When I replied, “No, I don’t know much about opera. Why do you ask?”,

“I heard a retired soprano opera singer is preparing for a comeback. I thought it might be nice to attend together, if you’re interested. If you’d like, I’ll send an invitation to the McKane Family.”
