She had lost a lot of weight, but Claire’s physical strength was not great enough to support an adult man. She did exercise and take care of herself, but Claire was inherently not very strong.

In contrast, the former me could have carried someone like Ian. I had a robust physique, stronger than it appeared, and my job had made it possible to carry an adult male.

Of course, this referred to a man of average build. A heavily overweight man would have been impossible even for me.

A bench under a tree caught my eye. My arms trembled as I supported him, staring at the bench.

“Just two steps away…”

But those two steps seemed impossible with him completely unconscious.

I compromised with reality, deciding to gently lay him down on the ground instead of trying for the bench.

“This was a dress I really liked… Buy me another one just like it later.”

If Ian could have heard me, he would probably have replied in his typically cheesy way: ‘If you want, I can buy you not just one but a hundred more.’

His characteristic romantic lines came to mind, making me chuckle.

“No, focus. This isn’t the time for that. Ugh!”

Even just laying him down was a struggle, taking a lot of effort and time.

After finally managing to lay him down safely, I placed his head on my knees and searched for the medicine. My arms trembled from the exertion, making it hard to take out the medicine bottle.

“I did well to bring this, just in case.”

I had brought it just in case, although Ian had enough medicine for the period I was absent.

Despite this, I couldn’t shake off a sense of unease, worried that he might not take his medicine regularly and collapse. I never thought it would actually come to this.

“Prince Ian! Wake up and drink this!”

I slapped his cheeks gently to wake him up. The medicine was liquid, and forcing it into his mouth risked it going down the wrong way.

He briefly regained consciousness, opening his eyes slowly, and I quickly poured the medicine into his mouth. After taking the medicine, he closed his eyes again.

“I’ll have to stay here until he regains consciousness.”

I wiped the cold sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief. As I looked at his face, I raised my head to gaze at the sky.

“It’s beautiful.”

The black night sky was sprinkled with shining white stars. The cool, damp air of the garden refreshed my lungs.

“This isn’t so bad.”

Sitting on the dewy ground, my bottom was cold, and I had no idea when someone would come to help, but I wasn’t feeling too bad.

Since becoming Claire, I hadn’t felt as at ease as I did at this moment. I felt like I had returned to being Jane.

“Is this what relief feels like…”

Ian, murmuring ‘It’s really Jane’ with a smile of relief, must have felt something similar.

Although Claire’s family treated me kindly and preciously, I couldn’t help feeling uneasy among them. They were strangers to me, and to them, I was an intruder occupying Claire’s body.

Apart from Ian’s condition, meeting him had brought a sense of comfort, like returning to the embrace of a family.

“Is this what family feels like…”

Ian was like family to me, not by blood, but undoubtedly someone I could rely on emotionally. Looking down at him, I realized how much his face had changed. I could feel how deeply he had mourned my death.

“Thank you for not forgetting me. But now, don’t be sad for me anymore… for Jane. You’ve grieved enough.”
I kissed his forehead with gratitude, just as I used to when he was a child suffering from a high fever.

As a child, Ian wasn’t as brazen as he is now. He would pretend to sleep, his cheeks flushed as if they might burst, tightly closing his eyes. Yet, despite the fever, his hot hand would firmly grasp mine, as if he would never let go.

“I remember you said that you would recognize me no matter what I looked like…”

Of course, it was just a hallucination caused by the fever, but he kept his promise.

“Such words lead to misunderstandings. People think Prince Ian and I were in love, which is ridiculous.”

I never completely dismissed the idea that he might genuinely like me. Fearing to get hurt, I forced myself to interpret his playful comments as just jokes. I laughed them off for my sake. And now, they had to remain jokes, for his sake too.

It would be cruel to let him carry the burden of a dead person in his heart forever.

“So, shake it off quickly. Remembering me occasionally as ‘Ah, that commoner pharmacist who took care of me. A pretty skillful friend.’ is enough for me.”

“Prince Ian! Your Highness! Where are you?”

I tuned into the distant call, recognizing the voice of Simon, Ian’s steward. Worried about not seeing Ian at the banquet, he must have come looking for him.

Simon would have tried hard to dissuade Ian from attending the banquet, considering his health. But, as stubborn as Ian is, Simon probably couldn’t stop him.

I waved my hand to call out to the worried steward.

“Over here! Steward Simon, over here!”

Simon quickly located us upon hearing my voice.

“Prince Ian?”

He rushed over.

“Is His Highness alright?”

Ex-husband Wants Reconciliation

One-line summary: Chasing the wife to the crematorium (making an effort to attract someone who has become indifferent), the female lead doesn’t look back, the second male lead takes the position.

Intro:

To repay the kindness of the older generation, Su Mu crossed into a female-dominated world and became a live-in daughter-in-law of the Yan family, single-handedly saving the Yan family from fire and water.

But her husband, Yan Jiyue, the eldest son of the Yan family, treated her with sarcasm and never showed her a good face.

It wasn’t until after Su Mu’s death that this pampered and arrogant young master shed a few fake tears and pretended to want to die for love.

This life’s kindness was enough. If there was a next life, she would definitely kick Yan Jiyue away.

Who knew that the heavens would be so kind as to allow her to be reborn, returning to the time when she had just married into the Yan family.

Su Mu glanced at the Yan eldest son, who still spoke coldly to her, and threw a divorce letter in front of him.

“Let’s divorce!”

***

Yan Jiyue never imagined that he would be reborn. He happily went to find Su Mu, wanting to make up for the mistakes he had made in his ignorant youth.

Wasn’t the reason the heavens allowed him to be reborn to let him reconcile with Su Mu?

But when he pushed open the door to Su Mu’s room, the person lying on the bed was another man.

Su Mu’s personal attendant, Xie Yi.

Yan Jiyue hated him so much that his teeth itched. In front of Su Mu, Xie Yi was a gentle and considerate whisperer of sweet nothings, but in reality, he was vicious-hearted and deliberately sabotaged their husband and wife relationship.

In the previous life, it was he who secretly hid in Su Mu’s coffin and committed suicide, stealing a step ahead of him to be buried with Su Mu.

Yan Jiyue’s eyes were filled with hatred as he cursed, “What kind of thing are you? Your background is lowly, what right do you have to occupy Su Mu?”

Xie Yi looked at the sleeping Su Mu and no longer pretended to be a whisperer of sweet nothings.

He proudly stuck out his belly, “I have the right because my belly is capable of giving the Wife-master a daughter.”

***

Yan Jiyue was consumed with jealousy. He spread rumors that Xie Yi had once been branded with the mark of a “harlot” on his chest.

But on the night Xie Yi cut off the flesh bearing that mark, Su Mu suddenly realized something was amiss.

“How did you know the exact moment I was poisoned? And why did you show up a month early?”

Xie Yi remained silent, blood from his wound soaking through his robes. His sapphire eyes brimmed with anguish – or was it just a flawless act?

Between a once-arrogant husband now seeking redemption, and a gentle soul willing to die for her – who truly held the darkest secrets? And could it be that Su Mu and Yan Jiyue weren’t the only ones given a second chance at life…?

[Reading Guide]

1. True divorce, chasing the wife to the crematorium, the female lead doesn’t look back, the male lead is Xie Yi.
