In just one night, the atmosphere of the main fortress had grown restless.

From the afternoon after luncheon until dawn, knights kept arriving without pause, leaving the fortress staff busy receiving the newcomers.

Because the distances from the main fortress to each of the seven citadels varied, the knights’ arrival times were all different.

Though Bianca had been forewarned by Julie and thus wasn’t startled by the commotion, she still couldn’t sleep properly due to the constant sounds of knights being welcomed, which lasted until dawn.

Eventually, at dawn, when the booming final greeting—“The Seven Citadels’ Knight Order pays its respects to Your Grace!”—echoed through the halls, Bianca gave up on sleep entirely.

The sun would rise in a couple of hours; if she fell asleep now, she’d surely sleep straight through until the next afternoon.

Realizing that oversleeping might cause quite a stir, Bianca quickly got out of bed, just in case she drifted off again.

It was pitch-black all around.

It was far too early to summon a servant, yet too long a wait to sit quietly until morning.

Suddenly, Bianca remembered—this was the perfect time to visit the library.

Quietly, she washed her face, finished a simple toilette, neatly put on her white coat, and stepped out of her room.

At the sound of the lock unlatching, the knight standing guard outside snapped his head up.

“Good morning.”

Bianca offered an awkward greeting with a slight smile.
