“Stupid animals, just like their master, not understanding a word.”

Gillian, who cleanly slashed the charging monster, muttered while shaking off his sword.

The wave was like a sandstorm.

No matter how hard he tried, the darkness around him seemed endless.

These beasts with highly developed instincts should know they can’t match me.

Even when he demonstratively flexed his muscles, as if telling them to go back to their territory, the moment the monsters crossed the icy wall, they were drawn towards Barlock like a magnet.

What idiots.

No one is welcoming you.

A single arrow flew in front of Gillian, who was clicking his tongue, and stuck in the ground.

“Protection is done, now focus on offense.”

Clicking his tongue again, but Elizabeth’s stubbornness was extraordinary.

Blat was no different, unable to break her stubbornness.

After the fall of the 7th stronghold, Blat had noticeably lost his spirit.

Even though the problem with the fortress walls was not his responsibility.

Elizabeth of the 6th stronghold had been quite meticulous before, and now, due to this situation, she acted as if she had exposed herself on the water’s edge.

“Annoying.”

Gillian shook his head disapprovingly.

No one listens no matter how much he talks.

Thinking that the collapse of Barlock, and even the empire, would be the end was somewhat understandable, but still, annoying.

Gillian shook off his sword hilt that was sticking tightly to his palm and gripped it again.

The number of monsters had reduced considerably, yet it was still not the right time to ask for ‘cleanup.’

Looks like he had to exert himself all day today.

But…

‘I’ll give you the answer when you come back.’

Was it because of the sweet voice echoing in his ears?

No one was rushing him, but his heart felt unnecessarily busy.

Gillian readjusted his grip on the sword and immediately infused it with aura.

The thin white blade vibrated thinly and was soon covered with a translucent light.

Now, anything touched by his sword would turn into nothing.

Continuously releasing his power like this was not easy even for Gillian.

But Gillian pushed himself further, elongating the aura from the tip of his sword.

‘You have to come back. I’ll give you the answer you want.’

The last voice he heard was so full of moisture, he couldn’t bear it.

Whether it was because he felt the end was near or not, he was becoming increasingly impatient.

Gillian lightly shook off the elongated aura.

Pop!

A faint cluster of light from the tip of the sword struck the ground, and the ground was immediately plowed long.

The technique was one that had shocked the knights on the first day, whipping aura like a lash.

It was exhausting, but doing this, he could finish and leave today.

Pop!

Habitually flicking his wrist, Gillian swiftly swung his sword at a group of approaching monsters.

Then, a series of explosions occurred, and his vision was blurred with a turquoise mist.

The monsters who had been closing the distance exploded, and a turquoise mist rapidly shot towards Gillian.

This was the moment he had been waiting for.

“Wow… magnificent, every time I see it.”

Blat couldn’t help but marvel at the turquoise mist Gillian produced.

Releasing aura is hard enough, let alone whipping it like that.

The turquoise mist Gillian created was the visual phenomenon of monster residues scattering finely.

He knew it was beyond human comprehension, but it was aweinspiring every time he saw it.

“If you have time to chat, cut down one more!”

Again, Elizabeth, who was standing beside him, couldn’t bear it and scolded him.

Blat grumbled as he tightly gripped his sword.

Even if Gillian was amazing, he couldn’t handle all the monsters.

It was literally a wave.

A countless number of monsters charged in, looking like a massive wave.
Gillian handled the majority, but a few groups slipped past him towards the castle.

Either climbing up the castle walls or trying to break down the door.

Regardless, their numbers were substantial, keeping us occupied as well.

“Yikes!”

Vlady dodged a monster swinging its claws at him.

“Still not dead?”

He thought he had dealt with it moments ago, but apparently not.

That was the annoying thing about these monsters.

Thanks to their incredible regenerative abilities, they could revive in the blink of an eye, even from a fatal wound.

Furthermore, they showed no hesitation in their movements, as if they were not even affected.

Usually, one person attacks, and another follows up with a second strike in the same spot.

Cutting them down without giving them a chance to regenerate was the strategy.

Knights had to engage each monster in groups not just because of the monsters’ overwhelming strength, but also for this reason.

Screech!

Vlady quickly struck the monster running toward him with its mouth open.

He then swung his falling sword upwards again to hit the monster’s neck, preventing its regeneration.

It was exceedingly difficult to follow the trajectory of the blade, especially as a group had recently scaled the walls and engaged us in combat.

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
