Crash!!
The unidentifiable sound came from the ceiling every time the wyvern flapped its wings.
“The wyvern is coming close, sir. The fourth floor is only high in the center, being adjacent to the roof.”
Lest Gillian would misunderstand being overwhelmed, Raefin briefly explained the situation.
The image of Gillian, with a young maid hiding behind his back, and his drawn sword was vividly etched on the retina.
“The fourth floor is originally a space where maids are not allowed to enter…”
“It seems someone’s wretched servant has called it.”
With utter contempt, Jully pointed at someone hidden behind Gillian.
It was a knight, as young as a young maid.
The situation was tough, but it was none of his business.
Gillian was in danger.
That was all that mattered to Bianca right now.
The wyvern facing Gillian was truly terrifying.
A massive body that seemed to be cobbled together, like seven carriages, a wyvern with short, bristly hair packed tightly, looked like a bird, just as one would expect of a flyingtype monster.
Of course, unlike a bird’s beak, it had a long snout full of sharp teeth, and thin, blue, bulging veins in its wing membranes, but the most terrifying thing was its eyes.
Kraaaaaaa
The small yellow eyes, staring unblinkingly at ‘Gillian’, were flickering with a murderous intent.
Bianca watched Gillian without even breathing.
She could neither call out to him nor move.
“Could you close your eyes for a moment?”
This must be it.
Bianca silently screamed at the sight of Gillian, who was looking at her and smiling.
From her wideopen eyes, a tear dropped.
The wyvern was seizing the moment to pounce on him.
“Why did you do that! Why!”
Bianca hugged Gillian and raised her voice.
She didn’t forget to punch his shoulder with her tightly clenched fist.
It seemed not to hurt at all, as if she was hitting with a small hand without any joints, but Bianca had no mind to care about that.
Bianca was really angry from head to toe.
“I didn’t make a sound! I didn’t make a sound! In case you looked at me. In case I distracted you!!”
It was something Bianca would never say normally.
“I didn’t even breathe in case I would be a burden!”
“I know.”
“But what if you take your eyes off, what, what to do!”
Bianca choked on her tears and screamed in the middle of her sentence.
Jully’s eyes must have widened, but it was only after Gillian had shut everyone up.
The only thing echoing in the empty space of the vacant fourth floor was Bianca’s shrill voice.
“I’m sorry. Were you surprised?”
“Surprised? That’s an understatement! I, you.”
Uhhh.
She suddenly let out a beastlike cry.
Bianca’s tears had long since soaked Gillian’s shirt.
“I, Gillian……”
Unable to bring herself to say the rest, Bianca continued like this.
One moment, she would tremble with rage at the memory and vent her anger on him, and then she would burst into tears of sorrow.
What happened around sunset was over in the blink of an eye, but Bianca couldn’t calm down, and they were left on the fourth floor until it was dark.
In the darkness, Bianca hugged Gillian with both hands, crying, hitting him, blaming him, and then comforting him.
It wasn’t a short time, but Gillian kindly received Bianca’s outburst of emotions.
“I wanted to reassure you, but I must have scared you instead. I was wrong.”
“Don’t, don’t do it. Don’t do.”
“I won’t.”
Answering obediently, Gillian slowly stroked the heaving back of Bianca.
The emotionally overwhelmed woman cried for over an hour.
She never had much physical strength to begin with, and after crying and venting her emotions like that, she couldn’t have any strength left.
For a while now, Bianca couldn’t even sit properly and was crumbling like a sandcastle, almost entirely supported by Gillian.
The biting wind was constantly blowing in through the window broken by the wyvern.
Bianca was fortunate to be wearing a ‘coat’, but giant rabbit skin is not almighty.
If you drag on the time, you’ll eventually become bedridden.
Gillian gently pushed the sobbing Bianca away from his embrace.
Startled, Bianca flailed her arms to clutch at him, but Gillian was first to get up and hold Bianca.
With his arms tightly wrapped around her back and waist, he lovingly looked down at Bianca, who was soaked in tears.
“Do the rest in bed. I’ll listen all night.”
“Don’t try to pass it off with that clever tone.”
Thick tears flowed like a river, not stopping as they ran down her cheeks.
“I was really worried.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t think you’d be so scared.”
Whispering words he had said an hour ago, Gillian moved.
“I didn’t know.”
“It’s my fault.”
With each step, the biting wind that lashed his back receded.
Gillian, holding the thin warmth of the woman in his arms, moved briskly with wide strides.
He would have liked to leap down two or three stairs at once, but that would have scared her again.
As he carefully lifted his foot one step at a time so that the Bianca in his arms would not shake, then,
“I didn’t know, you, Barlock would face something like that alone.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
