Crack!
With a sound like stone breaking, blue body fluid burst out in all directions.
“Ugh!”
He hastily covered himself with his cloak, but it soaked thoroughly into his hair.
Soon after, a sizzling sound rang out, accompanied by a foul smell.
“Ah. Really.”
He shook his melting hair, a tearful expression on his face.
Since it had strong acidity, the monster’s body fluid was a poison in itself.
Gillian, who knew this fact well, usually controlled quite carefully when killing a monster, so the monster rarely exploded.
However, today, for some reason, the monster exploded every time he swung his sword.

It was too frequent to be a coincidence, and the monster’s body fluid was not something to be taken lightly, so it couldn’t be laughed off as a mistake.
While shaking his head, the monster’s body fluid poured down like rainwater again.
“Ahick!”
He quickly leaped back with a disgusted expression.
Splash.
Where he had been standing just a moment ago, a blue puddle had formed.
“My hair will all melt and disappear at this rate.”
It was already the fourth time in a short while.
He couldn’t stand it anymore!
“Your Grace…!”

His face twisted with rage, he was about to call out to the Duke when suddenly his eyes caught something, and he paused.
“Huh?”
Gillian was not shaking his sword, but his sheath.
A moment ago, he saw another one rushing from behind Gillian, just after one was cut down, as if to make a staggered attack.
But since he dealt with it quickly, he naturally thought that he would swing his sword…
Blinking his eyes, he recalled that Gillian had been using both hands all day.
This wasn’t a frequent mistake.
How could hitting with the sheath cause it not to explode?
“You’re crazy.”
At the unbelievable spectacle, he burst into laughter, giggling.

The Duke fighting the monsters was literally a monster.
An appalling strength beyond human.
Gillian’s figure, overpowering the monsters, was intense enough to make one’s hair stand on end no matter how many times one saw it.
He’s not human.
“He’s not human. He’s not human.”
“Gasp!”
“What is this foolishness?”
Suddenly realizing that he had been babbling, he quickly closed his mouth, only then noticing that Crustel was standing next to him.
“Ah, Crustel.”
“Why such a shy expression?”

Crustel, wiping the sticky monster’s body fluid from his sword blade, looked at him contemptuously.
“It’s not shyness…”
“Then what’s that horrible expression?”
“That is… Eek!”
He stopped speaking and skillfully lifted his cloak to dodge the flying body fluid.
His cloak had long lost its original color and was soaked blue.
Although it looked horrible, sticky with the body fluid, since nothing but a cloak made of monster hide could withstand the monster’s body fluid, he couldn’t take it off.
“Look at you. Jumping around soaked blue, you look like a frog.”
Unlike him, who dodged with a single step, Crustel flipped his hair, sneering.
Both Gillian slaughtering the herd of monsters and Crustel mocking him were everyday occurrences.

He now even understood that the monsters exploded when hit with the sheath.
But he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was strange.
As he tilted his head in thought, another blue downpour fell, and his thoughts abruptly stopped.
Splash.
This time, he probably had to turn his cloak inside out.
‘Ending it quickly is the best option.’
Just as he was about to grip his sword tightly…
“Your Grace!”
A thunderous shout echoed across the battlefield.
If it had been a stranger’s voice, it would have been one of his knights.

“The Duchess has awakened.”
Gillian’s sword, which had not stopped moving since entering the battlefield, halted.
He slowly turned his head.
“When?”
As he asked, the knight opened his mouth wide to answer.
At that moment, a massive creature with yellow eyes lunged toward the Duke.
Its terrifyingly sharp teeth, tightly packed in a wideopen mouth, were vividly and frighteningly etched into his sight.
Lafin and Kreta took flight, but the distance was too great.
“Duke!”
With someone’s piercing scream, a chilling sound resonated.

Whoosh.
And then all around was silent.
“I asked when.”
Gillian’s voice, too calm, rang out, and a beat later, thud, a heavy sound resonated.
There was no bluepurple blood.
Gillian, who kicked the fallen monster lightly and walked out, had a white light glowing from the black aura in his hand.
“Ah….”
Lafin finally realized the indescribable discomfort.
Gillian had never used aura before the native knights came.
It was not a problem with the sword sheath.

Lafin smiled lightly at Gillian and realized once again.
That throughout the cleanup of the monster, Gillian had never uttered a word, nor had he made any expression.
It wasn’t just something that could be expressed by saying he was angry.
This…
Lafin somehow felt chills and could not breathe.
“I rushed here as soon as I heard you were up.”
“You must be tired.”
Gillian smiled warmly and generously praised the native knight.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
