“Is it still not done?”
“No, because someone messed up the magic circle, I’m redrawing it now!”
Min Jae Yun was frantically redrawing a magic circle in the middle of the library with white chalk.
The disorder caused by Lude’s spiritual power necessitated a realignment of the magic forces. Simultaneously, adjustments to the magic circle were required to align with the plan.
“Seriously, wizardry is inconvenient. Having to memorize all these magic circles…”
“Are you criticizing my class now? Don’t you know the pride of wizardry? Unlike illusionists who can’t even materialize their illusions!”
“I can.”
Lude spun around to demonstrate, and a sulky Min Jae Yun buried his head back in the magic circle.
‘Right, he’s beyond the norm. A celestial among celestials!’
Feeling overshadowed by the recent battle, Min Jae Yun consoled himself while adjusting the magic circle with chalk.
The library was filled with the sound of chalk against the board. Lude’s voice then broke the silence.
“If you care so much about your teachers and classmates, why not just register as an awakened? Honestly, things like this happen every three months.”
Lude looked again at the magic circle Min Jae Yun was drawing.
‘It’s a well-crafted magic circle. It’s only because it’s set up in a public facility. Otherwise, the sophistication of the workshop and its ability to withstand a Corrosion-type gate is remarkable.’
A meticulous perfectionist wizard is more frightening than a powerful one. The student before him was both. With such talent and persistence, securing a position in a top guild like White Night seemed guaranteed.
“You could be among the top five in the country if you joined a place like White Night.”
Min Jae Yun fell silent for a while.
‘Did I make a mistake? I tried to emulate Yi Hyeon…’
It seemed that approach didn’t work on this student. Just as Lude was about to apologize, Min Jae Yun spoke up.
“My grandfather lost my parents to demons. Right before his eyes, my parents were torn in half. My mom vertically, my dad horizontally. He couldn’t do anything.”
Lude looked at Min Jae Yun in shock, taken aback by the casual manner in which he relayed such horrific details.
“I was only three, so I don’t remember much. But my grandfather was deeply traumatized. He gets so agitated at the mere mention of ‘demon.’ Imagine his shock if he knew his grandson was a wizard handling demons.”
[While most think wizards are primarily driven by a thirst for knowledge, it’s actually a desire for control, Chaos Lord interjects.]‘Control?’
[It’s those with a strong obsession to study something thoroughly and eventually control it, who become wizards, Chaos Lord explains.]Realizing the situation, Lude rubbed his chin, looking at the student.
‘He must have started getting interested in that field after watching his grandfather.’
[Chaos Lord snaps his fingers in agreement.]“Ah, finally done! Man, that was tough!”
Min Jae Yun, covered in chalk dust, stood up. Lude, lost in thought, picked up his phone. It was time to get serious about dealing with the gate.
[Yi Hyeon, it’s your turn now. Everything is ready.]“Okay.”
Yi Hyeon, standing on the playground, looked hesitantly at the school. He seemed to be questioning if this was really necessary.
“Um, Lude, is it really that bad? It looks completely fine from the outside. The readings have stabilized too.”
[What do you know? Just get ready to demolish it quickly.]Yi Hyeon reluctantly prepared himself for the task at hand.
“I’m worried about getting a bill for damages if we don’t handle this correctly.”
Yi Hyeon’s practical concerns filled his mind. Lude’s voice came through the phone again.
[Hey. You can take responsibility. Just unleash your strongest attack. If I like it,]“Then?”
[I might even have a meal with you.]“…I’ll do my best!”
Yi Hyeon’s attitude changed instantly. He imagined a full course of dining out, watching movies, and visiting cafes as he took out his sword from the inventory and held it high.
The cross dangling from his white shirt caught the light and sparkled. As he held his sword straight up, golden divine power gathered around him.
“Tree of Sephiroth, connect.”
[Divine Trait Exclusive to Avatars: Holy Elixir of God] [Using the power of the Staff of Purification from the Throne.]Slowly, the heavens opened, and brilliant golden light shot down. Like a spotlight on an actor on stage, Yi Hyeon was bathed in dazzling gold.
[Connecting to the Tree of Sephiroth.] [Guardian of the Tree of Life identified. Please hold.] [Raphael’s Avatar, Tiphereth connection authorized.]This skill, ‘Tree of Sephiroth’, contributed greatly to his nickname, ‘Golden Holy Fire.’ Yi Hyeon could connect to the Tree of Sephiroth and use the powers of other angels in place.
Of course, it required the consent of the Archangels. He was the chosen one of Raphael.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
