Romance for You (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
“Mom! Did Lee Su come home?”
“She just got home and you’re already looking for Lee Su? She hasn’t come yet.”
At that, Yoo Mi hurried upstairs to the second floor and opened Lee Su’s bedroom door.
She went straight into the powder room and looked for the perfume on the vanity.
“Ah, this one! It’s a brand I’ve never seen before.”
Yoo Mi examined the perfume closely and muttered to herself.
It looked extremely high-end.
Still turning it over in her hands, Yoo Mi took out her phone, snapped a photo, and opened the cap.
She sprayed it a few times into the air and a few times onto her wrist.
Sniffing deeply with a serious expression—as if she were a perfume connoisseur—she tilted her head in confusion.
“It’s too similar. It must be the same perfume.”
She wasn’t entirely sure, but the scent was far too close to the one she’d caught from Ji Ho at lunch.
If only she’d paid more attention then, she might have remembered it clearly—but she’d been too flustered, her senses completely scrambled.
Could this really be it? It was distinctive enough to be memorable, though.
“What are you doing in someone else’s room?”
“Ah! You scared me!”
Yoo Mi jumped in fright at the sight of Lee Su standing silently in front of the powder room.
Caught sneaking into an empty room and touching perfume, Yoo Mi stammered in flustered embarrassment.
“N-nothing. The scent of your perfume this morning smelled so nice. I just wanted to see what brand it was.”
“……”
“You said you didn’t know its name. I was only going to check the label and leave.”
“But you sprayed it too?”
The scent now filled the entire room—clearly she’d used quite a bit.
“I just wanted to smell it again.”
“If you’re done, then leave.”
For some reason, Yoo Mi hesitated, showing no intention of leaving.
Given that Lee Su had come straight upstairs the moment she got home—still dressed in what she’d worn at lunch and carrying her shoulder bag—Yoo Mi couldn’t understand why she was so desperate to confirm the perfume’s name.
“Aren’t you leaving?”
“……Who gave you this?”
Yoo Mi asked cautiously, watching Lee Su’s expression.
Truthfully, she cared less about the perfume itself and more about who’d given it to her.
“Why do you need to know?”
Lee Su deliberately snapped irritably to stop Yoo Mi from asking further.
If Yoo Mi found out Seo Ji Ho had given it, there’d be chaos.
Thinking that, Lee Su let out a soft chuckle.
When did I start worrying about things like this?
It was absurd—having to hide something she had no reason to conceal in the first place.
“Just… it’s natural to be curious, isn’t it?”
Yoo Mi pouted and shrugged her shoulders.
Lee Su jerked her chin toward the door.
“Fine! Like it’s some huge secret or something. Tch.”
Grumbling, Yoo Mi spun around and reluctantly left.
Lee Su decided she’d have to lock her door from now on.
**
Yoo Mi flopped onto her bed and searched online for the perfume she’d photographed with her phone.
The perfume Lee Su had received was from a British niche brand famous for being the most outrageously priced among ultra-luxury perfumes.
It was difficult to obtain in Korea, as it had no official retailers here.
“Who on earth would give Lee Su something like this? Could she really have gotten a boyfriend?”
Yoo Mi sniffed again at the lingering scent on her wrist.
For some reason, it kept nagging at her.

Still wearing a suspicious expression, Yoo Mi pulled out her phone.
“I’ll just contact Oppa under the pretense of asking about the perfume.”
She was actually glad—this gave her a natural excuse to reach out to Ji Ho.
—Oppa, I have a question, so I’m messaging you. Was the perfume you wore today this one? The scent seems really similar. Please reply once you’ve checked.
After typing and erasing her message several times, Yoo Mi finally hit send along with the perfume photo.

Ji Ho frowned at the bright sunlight forcing its way through the curtain gap.
Still lying in bed, he stretched his arm far across to the nightstand.
He checked his phone—6:50 a.m.
Just as he was about to close his eyes again, he opened a weather app out of habit.
Thirty percent chance of rain.
Which meant a seventy percent chance it wouldn’t rain.
“Another failed day.”
Ji Ho dragged his large hand down his face.
He tossed his phone aside and sat up.
As if needing to verify it himself, he flung the curtains wide open.
Looking down at the glittering Han River bathed in sunlight, he laughed.
He hadn’t even realized he’d scowled at the sight of such a perfectly clear, sunny sky.
“Since when did I start waiting so eagerly for rain?”
It had been a week since he last saw Lee Su.
He could’ve seen her anytime if he’d really wanted to—but stubbornness had taken hold, and now he was waiting.
Waiting foolishly for rain.
Should he just hold a rainmaking ritual already?
**
“Lee Su, they said it might rain this afternoon. Did you bring an umbrella?”
Ae Ra asked as soon as she spotted Lee Su in the library lobby.
“No. It doesn’t seem like it’ll rain. It’ll probably just stay cloudy.”
Lee Su had always been this way, but lately she made sure to check the weather every morning without fail.
More specifically, whether or not it would rain.
Having used the weather app for a long time, Lee Su could usually guess just by looking at the rain probability.
Though sometimes unexpected changes did happen.
“Well, that’s good then. I didn’t bring an umbrella.”
“Don’t worry. It won’t rain.”
“Is Seo Ji Ho’s umbrella still in your locker?”
“Yeah.”
“Why don’t you just take it? How many days has it been already?”
“I know, right?”
Lee Su wrinkled her nose as she spoke.
“But… don’t you think he’s doing it on purpose? My gut feeling says so.”
Ae Ra narrowed her eyes and gave a sly grin.
Ever since the semester-opening party, Ae Ra had repeated the same thing every chance she got—
going on about her “gut feelings.”
“Oh, not this again?”
“Seriously, you’re weird too. I looked up that perfume Seo Ji Ho gave you—it’s insanely expensive. Apparently, it’s certified by the British royal family or something. I mean, if he’s casually giving you stuff like that, his excuse about the umbrella sounds way too fake.”
“What do you mean, fake? Maybe it’s a special umbrella. If it means something, who cares about the price?”
“I don’t think so. If it really meant something, you’d have taken it sooner!”
Ae Ra tilted her head suspiciously, then suddenly grabbed Lee Su’s wrist and brought it under her own nose.
“Is this it—the perfume?”
“Yeah.”
Ae Ra took a deep breath—so deep her chest puffed out—then closed her eyes and pretended to savor it.

“Hmmmm. So this is Seo Ji Ho’s scent. Hehe. Smells amazing.”
Lee Su burst out laughing, utterly exasperated, and yanked Ae Ra’s arm.
“Let’s go. We’ll be late for class.”
At that moment, Yoo Mi, standing by a lobby pillar, glared fiercely at Lee Su’s retreating back.
“Hah! So that was the perfume Oppa gave her?”
Yoo Mi had spotted Lee Su by chance and deliberately hidden herself to avoid confrontation.
She hadn’t meant to eavesdrop, but with the pillar between them, their conversation carried clearly.
Ji Ho had replied “yes” to Yoo Mi’s text, and she’d dismissed it as just a coincidence—thinking they happened to have the same perfume.
“You said you two weren’t involved at all!”
Yoo Mi clenched her fists so tightly her nails dug into her palms.
Furious at the thought that Lee Su had lied to her, her lips trembled.
What did it mean to give someone the very perfume you yourself wore?
Now that she thought about it—they’d both worn the same scent that same day.
Could it be… couple perfume?
Her heart pounded as if it might burst from the horrifying thought clawing its way into her mind.
**
Lee Su’s already poor condition that morning only worsened as the day dragged on.
She’d felt a slight lift from Ae Ra’s cheerful energy, but soon her body began dragging again.
Her head throbbed, and her throat stung.
Was she coming down with a cold? Just hang on through today—it’s almost the weekend.
Dragging her heavy feet, Lee Su entered the classroom for her last Friday lecture.
Too exhausted to walk all the way to the front, she simply sat in the nearest empty seat near the entrance.
From the back row, she had a clear view of the entire tiered lecture hall.
Vaguely, she saw Ji Ho and Ha Jun’s backs in the front.
Once class started, Lee Su barely endured the three hours, then left for home immediately after it ended.
**
She got home just past 6 p.m.
In the empty house, Lee Su quickly ate a light dinner and took cold medicine from the medicine cabinet.
She planned to tough it out with medicine for one day—and if she still felt awful tomorrow, she’d go to the hospital.
Sometimes a good rest was all it took to feel better.
Though utterly drained, she tidied the kitchen slightly before heading upstairs to her room.
‘After a good night’s sleep, I’ll feel better.’
Relieved it was Saturday tomorrow, Lee Su drifted off, drowsy from the medicine.
Hours must have passed.
Lee Su painfully opened her eyes to loud knocking at her door.
Ugh. If the door’s locked, just go away—why keep pounding?
“Hey, Jeong I Su! Open the door. Now!”
Bang! Bang!
The pounding—like fists trying to break the door down—kept coming.
“Open it right now!”
Her voice was slurred and higher-pitched than usual.
9:23 p.m.
Lee Su checked the digital clock on her nightstand and dragged her heavy body up.
If you’re drunk, just go to your own room and sleep quietly.
Still half-asleep, Lee Su unlocked and opened the door.
The moment it opened, a completely drunk Yoo Mi staggered in, shoving Lee Su aside.
She marched straight into the powder room, then reemerged holding a perfume bottle in one hand.
“You! You lied to me, didn’t you? Huh?”
Lee Su stared at Yoo Mi in utter disbelief.
“This! You said Oppa gave it to you!”

Yoo Mi shoved the perfume bottle right in Lee Su’s face, shaking it violently.
Her unfocused eyes wide with fury, Yoo Mi looked venomous—like an enraged cat.
“You said you and Oppa weren’t involved at all! You said that yourself!”
Lee Su’s head pounded.
How had Yoo Mi found out? Annoyance surged within her.
It’s not like I stole Yoo Mi’s boyfriend—do I really have to put up with this drunken tantrum?
Of all days—when she was feeling this awful. She had zero energy to deal with it.
Lee Su let out a sigh that sounded more like a groan.
“Tell me. What’s really going on between you and Ji Ho Oppa?”
Every time Yoo Mi spoke, the strong smell of alcohol wafted toward Lee Su.
“Give me that and go back to your room.”
Lee Su suppressed her anger and spoke gently, trying to calm the drunken Yoo Mi.
When Lee Su reached out, Yoo Mi defiantly raised the perfume bottle high and shoved Lee Su hard with her other hand.
Thrown off balance, Yoo Mi stumbled and fell backward with a loud thud, and the perfume bottle flew from her hand into the air.
Crash! It shattered loudly on the marble floor.
Glass shards scattered, and the room filled instantly with the overwhelming scent of perfume.
It all happened in an instant.
As Lee Su stared coldly at the broken bottle, Yoo Mi sprang up and lunged at her, grabbing her hair.
“Hey! Didn’t I tell you to stay away from Oppa? You evil bitch! You tricked me!”
At that moment, Lee Su felt the anger she’d suppressed all this time erupt like a volcano.
There was no room left for patience or restraint.
She grabbed Yoo Mi’s hair right back, and Yoo Mi let out a sharp scream.
“Agh! Are you crazy? Let go right now!”
Drawn by the commotion, Soo Min rushed upstairs and immediately pulled the two apart.
“Mom! Waaah! She pulled all my hair out!”
Yoo Mi sank to the floor, shaking her tangled hair and bursting into tears.
After checking that Yoo Mi wasn’t cut by the broken glass, Soo Min suddenly strode toward Lee Su and slapped her across the face with all her strength.
The sharp smack sent Lee Su’s head whipping to the side, and she staggered backward a few steps.
Stars flashed before her eyes as darkness swallowed her vision.
“After all I’ve tolerated—I can’t believe you’d dare lay a hand on Yoo Mi! How arrogant!”
Soo Min’s shrill voice blended with Yoo Mi’s sobs.
Though Soo Min kept shouting angrily, all Lee Su could hear was a dull buzzing in her ears.
She squeezed her eyes shut, then opened them—the darkness slowly clearing.
Gripping the edge of the bed, Lee Su barely gathered her wits and ran out of the house.
Overwhelmed by injustice, tears welled up in her eyes.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
