“Mom! What should I do! Sob! Sob!”
Yumi sat down heavily on the floor and wept.
Ever since overhearing Lee Soo’s conversation in the daytime, she had not been in her right mind.
She was so angry that she felt like she was going to die, tricked by Lee Soo’s lies that there was nothing between her and Jiho.
Determined, Yumi drank heavily and came home.
Yumi gritted her teeth, furious at the sight of Lee Soo, who was surprised when she shoved a perfume bottle at her.
“I should have recognized it from the moment you brought me home!”
While Yumi was angrily ranting, Sumin blankly looked around the room.
The shattered perfume bottle, the lingering smell, and Yumi sitting in the corner shaking her disheveled hair as she cried.
It was a complete mess.

Sumin checked the clock on the side table.
9:55 PM. It was almost time for Wonjin to come home.
He said he would be late due to a hospital gathering, but Wonjin rarely stayed out past midnight even if he had a drinking appointment.
It was rare for him to come home drunk, he was a person who meticulously managed himself in all matters.
Sumin felt her hair stand on end.
Because she belatedly realized what she had done.
She was conscious that she had slapped Lee Soo’s cheek, and that because of that, Lee Soo had run out.
“Oh, I’ve gone mad!”
It was something that had never happened before.
Sumin had always tried to be kind to Lee Soo, who was a thorn in her side.

But the moment she saw Lee Soo grabbing Yumi’s hair, Sumin felt like she was the one being grabbed and lost her mind.
She didn’t have time to properly assess the situation because she was surprised by Yumi’s scream.
Without realizing it, her hand had raised to Lee Soo’s cheek.
She regretted it, but to be honest, it felt a bit relieving when she hit Lee Soo.
It was due to the pentup emotions.
It was the same with Lee Soo’s room.
When she married Wonjin, she naturally thought that Yumi would use the upstairs room, but Wonjin opposed it.
The reason was that it should be available in case Lee Soo came someday.
She had always left the space that took up half of the second floor, including a large bedroom, a terrace with a view of the garden, a study room the size of Yumi’s room, a dressing room, and a bathroom with a powder room, empty for Lee Soo who didn’t even live with them.
As if it were some kind of sanctuary.

The good things were always for Lee Soo.
Wonjin made it that way, and Lee Soo, who took it for granted, was despicable and hateful.
Sumin was always discontented because it seemed like Lee Soo took all of Yumi’s share too.
“Even so, I should have held back. What should I do now? When he comes in, he’ll look for Lee Soo first.”
Sumin started to panic.
First, she needed to clean up the room.
She comforted Yumi, who was crying and reeking of alcohol.
“Yumi, go down to your room now! Let’s talk with Mom again when you’re sober tomorrow. Okay? Dad is coming home soon. Hurry up!”
Sumin helped the whining Yumi up and sent her downstairs.
She didn’t have the time to listen to Yumi’s drunken rant right now.

After opening the windows for ventilation and tidying up Lee Soo’s room, she called Lee Soo.
As expected, she did not answer the phone.
It was the same even when she called two or three times.
“He must be really angry.”
Sumin bit her nails.
She was terrified just thinking about how Wonjin would react when he found out she hit Lee Soo.
“I’ve gone mad. I’ve gone mad. How did I endure all this time?”
She was anxious that the efforts of the past five years would be wasted in an instant.
Sumin, who was growing anxious, sent a text to Lee Soo.
“Lee Soo, where are you? Let’s talk. I wasn’t in my right mind earlier. Mom will apologize, so please answer the phone.”

Even after sending a text apologizing, there was no response.
Sumin, who was restless, sent another text.
“Lee Soo, I’ll tell Dad you went to a friend’s house. And just in case, you won’t tell Dad what happened earlier, will you? There’s no need for Dad to know about something we can solve ourselves. Your room is cleaned up, so make sure to come home, even if it’s late. I’ll be waiting.”
After sending the lengthy text, Sumin bit her lip.
She felt selfloathing thinking that she had to live this way, constantly aware of her stepdaughter.
((()))((()))
It felt like a dream.
Lee Soo felt like she was lying on a large, fluffy cotton candy.
She didn’t want to wake up because it was so soft and warm, but she slowly woke from her sleep.
Lee Soo thought she needed to open her eyes, but she was afraid because she didn’t know what situation she would face once she did.

Slowly, she lifted her eyelids.
Her vision opened just as slowly.
She saw a white ceiling, and the lowintensity lighting warmly illuminated the room.
Lee Soo was lying on a gigantic bed in the center of a large room.
The outside, halfobscured by curtains, was still dark, and opposite the bed, a large TV hung filling the entire wall.
‘Where am I?’
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
