London Heathrow Airport.
As Ji Ho entered the gate, a slight exclamation slipped from the stewardess greeting him at the entrance.
A captivating face and an impressive height.
The black turtleneck sweater gently enveloping his lean jawline, and the brown cashmere coat reaching down to his knees, were stylish enough to evoke images of a runway every time he walked.
Above all, his elegant demeanor overflowed with charm and harmonized perfectly with the first class cabin.
“Welcome. Nice to meet you.”
“Yes.”
A sincere smile spread across the face of the attending stewardess.
Returning to Seoul after meeting his parents in London during the winter vacation.
Settling deep into his seat, Ji Ho stretched his long legs, contemplating the upcoming long and boring flight.

At the end of his languid gaze, he spotted a woman just entering the cabin.
Perhaps because it was rare to encounter someone his age in first class, a faint curiosity glimmered in his eyes as he watched her.
Distinctive facial features. A short haircut revealing a long, snowwhite neck.
The woman exuded a haughty and intellectual atmosphere, but there was something inexplicably hollow in her gaze.
Shuffling.
The woman who walked inside nonchalantly passed by Ji Ho and plopped down on the seat next to him, leaving the aisle between them.
His handsome face seemed to elicit no emotion from her.
For a while, she just stared blankly out the window.
“…Mom.”
A moment later, a low, cracked voice flowed from the woman with her phone to her ear.

“Yes… Don’t worry… I’ll call when I arrive… You too, take care.”
In the still quiet cabin before takeoff, the woman’s voice resonated clearly.
Her voice trembling slightly. Her words punctuated with pauses. It seemed like she was holding back tears.
After the brief call, the sound of sniffling could be heard a moment later.
“Sniff. Sniff. Sniff.”
As time passed, the volume increased as her emotions escalated.
At the unfamiliar sound of the woman crying, Ji Ho’s face slightly grimaced.
The time when all the lights in the cabin were off.
Tossing and turning in his bed, Ji Ho eventually got up.
Stepping out into the aisle to go to the self bar, he glanced at the woman curled up in the seat next to him.

Thinking she was asleep due to her silence, he noticed her shoulders shaking thinly from above.
Ji Ho’s head tilted sideways.
From between the blanket covering her face, a faint sobbing sound could be heard.
Crying again after all that weeping earlier.
Pausing in his steps, Ji Ho stared at her, then slowly turned around.
((()))((()))
The airplane slowly descended and violently shook as it touched down on the runway with a roar.
The woman abruptly stood up from her seat as soon as the announcement of arrival ended.
In that moment, her bag fell with a thud as she swayed heavily, scattering its contents on the floor.
Thud.
Feeling dizzy, the woman began to gather the fallen items with a slight stumble.
Ji Ho picked up a wallet and a passport that had fallen near his feet and handed them to her.
“Here……”
“Ah. Yes.”
Their eyes met for a brief moment.
Her eyes were swollen red.
Her pale face was blotchy with the traces of tears.
It was clearly visible at close range.
She must have cried all night.
Quickly lowering her head, the woman hurriedly exited the cabin.

A moment later, Ji Ho leisurely rose from his seat, gathering his luggage.
At that time, he felt a thin foreign object under the step he had taken.
Raising his foot, he saw a card with a familiar design left on the floor.
A student ID with the inscription “[Korea University College of Medicine, Lee Soo]” next to a clear photo.
“……We attended the same university.”
Ji Ho muttered softly.
She couldn’t have left long ago, he could still catch up.
Picking up the student ID, Ji Ho quickly sprang into action.
Thanks to his haste, he reached the baggage claim before his luggage came out, but he didn’t see the woman.
Did she carry just one bag to London and back?

In Ji Ho’s hand, who was shaking his head, was the student ID he couldn’t return.
Normally, Ji Ho would have handed it over to the lost and found at the airport without hesitation, but the sight of her swollen red eyes made him hesitate.
It would be a bit of a hassle, but the new semester was about to start anyway, and knowing the student’s name and major, it wouldn’t be too difficult to return it.
Ji Ho slid the student ID into his wallet.
((()))((()))
The first day of the semester.
The campus in March was a place where excitement and tension for a new start coexisted, and even though it was early in the morning, the students’ faces were full of vitality like the spring season.
On his way to the business school, Ji Ho glanced at the majestic buildings.
The words “Korea University Hospital” engraved largely on the upper part of the building glittered in the sunlight.
The medical school was located on the right side of the campus along with about ten hospital buildings.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
