Regret With All Your Might (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 167
In the early winter, when a piercing cold began to rise, the envoy dispatched to the southwest for negotiations with Bicander had passed through the palace gates…!
No sooner had the carriage stopped than the Empress hurriedly alighted. Beneath the haphazardly gathered hem of her dress, her swift steps headed toward the Emperor’s palace.
“…Bicander has proposed a deal concerning five southwestern territories. The acting lords cannot properly defend them, yet the palace lacks the means to readily dispatch knights…”
The Emperor’s listless voice from a few days ago echoed in her mind. The Empress clenched her teeth.
This was clearly a fraud.
Even without further proof, it was evident from the fact that, while bandits had raged uncontrollably across the southwest for nearly a month, only Tristan’s and other Bicander-held territories remained unscathed.
Bicander must have employed some underhanded scheme. And yet the capital couldn’t even spare a single knight squad.
Despair surged at this helpless reality. The Empress forced her chin upward.
In the old days, they would have crushed the bandits instantly and proclaimed their might across the entire empire.
Where had the glory of the Franz Empire gone?
Both the formidable knight orders and the palace’s abundant wealth—once sufficient to easily compensate for any losses from bandit raids—had visibly dwindled.
Yet the Empress shook her head as if to dismiss it all. The envoys sent had been Duke Elkin and Viscount Madelaine himself. No, even if she couldn’t trust House Madelaine, she had to trust Duke Elkin.
“Your Majesty, I shall use this negotiation to restore the trust between us siblings that has crumbled. At the very least, Her Imperial Highness the Princess needs enough territory to secure a worthy marriage proposal, wouldn’t you agree?”
Yes. Duke Elkin had championed her elevation to Crown Princess and steadfastly supported her throughout her more than twenty years as Empress.
If the Princess could forge a marital alliance with a respectable royal house… it would at least be the first button fastened toward securing their future.

All I cared about was the wedding and now it’s over… the story is kinda dragging out dare I say
I enjoyed the ride my only criticism is that in my opinion the ending kinda dragged on for a tad bit longer than it needed to be.
This was a good read. I love how resolute and steadfast Olivia is. Go get that happy ending girl.
