It seemed Edwin genuinely didn’t know. The purpose Olivia always sought in the early days of visiting the library. Before Yeniv Street, what was more important to her than anything else was Edwin.
Looking at Edwin’s confused and happy face, Olivia once again pulled Edwin’s hand. Then, she lifted the sleeve of his white shirt.
When Edwin’s wrist was exposed, Olivia spoke with sincerity, syllable by syllable.
“…And, I desire you like this, ardently and longingly. You, my most precious.”
“I’m always the one coveting. Naturally, there will be plenty of precious things that can only be obtained by devoting one’s heart to me, don’t you think?”
The meaning of a kiss on the wrist.
I desire you.
The pulse against her lips was incredibly warm. Olivia kissed Edwin’s hand for a long time as if engraving herself onto that pulse. Then, as she naturally parted her lips, Olivia interlocked her fingers with Edwin’s.
Edwin’s reddening eyes intensified as they gazed at each other over the dining table.
Only the slow sounds of their breathing intertwined above the restaurant.
“…I feel the same way as you do, Edwin.”
Olivia’s small and delicate hand enveloped in Edwin’s hand twitched. This wasn’t a dream or a fantasy.
“I want to look better. I want you to think of me more. That’s why I have more to give.”
When this lovely woman, who wanted to look better for me, realized the reality. Edwin’s heart pounded so intensely that it was difficult to handle.
With a blush on her adorable face, Olivia said, “What you desire, my most precious.”
“What you desire, my most precious.”
As Olivia’s words brought to mind what I had said, Edwin involuntarily swallowed his breath.
Despite her embarrassment, Olivia did not let go of Edwin’s hand or gaze.
In front of him, my lady was boldly declaring.
The same feeling that made me fall headlong for Olivia.
“…So, will you refuse this gift?”
“…Say it again.”
Edwin, as if squeezing the words out, spoke to Olivia. Even if it was a plea for this unbelievable moment to become eternal.
Olivia also, towards me, very much…
“I like you, Edwin.”
A voice full of shyness yet confidently declared.
The trembling sincerity in that voice reached him. Edwin, who had held his breath, began to breathe anew throughout his body.
Olivia met Edwin’s reddening eyes. Every gaze from Edwin touching her body was ticklish and delightful.
Edwin might not know, but everything that allowed him to say these words was all thanks to Edwin.
The expectations and winds Edwin sowed and nurtured had fully grown.
That’s why he could say it.
“…With all my heart.”
I genuinely like the radiant you, with all my heart.
It was that moment. The joined hands were suddenly pulled, and Edwin’s warm body enveloped Olivia, embracing her tightly. Edwin’s gesture, wrapping around Olivia, spoke volumes to me.
“…Me too, Olivia.”
A soft and refined voice, reaching my ears. The moment Olivia heard those words, it felt as if her expectations would no longer be trampled upon, and she dared to believe it might last a lifetime.
“I like you very much.”
Even though she already knew, somehow, tears seemed ready to fall. Olivia hugged Edwin with strength.
Heartbeats that couldn’t be distinguished as belonging to whom filled each other’s right chests.
“Before stamping the magic seal, you should sign first.”
In the dimly lit evening reception room.
Verseny looked at the two in front of him with eyes full of suspicion.
The young lady, who blushed every time her gaze met his, and the Duke, who stared at her with a languid look as if he would devour her.
“For a moment, everyone, please leave the room.”
As the lady who had bitten everyone took advantage of the Duke’s distraction to speak, they really left the restaurant for a short while.
However, when they returned, the air inside the restaurant was strangely tense. Naturally, Verseny gave the two a mischievous look.
The scene of the two sitting face to face seemed pale compared to what Verseny had anticipated before leaving the restaurant, just as they had done before.
“…I will bring the dessert.”
Verseny meticulously observed the two as if nothing happened. The lady, who kept looking away awkwardly, had her disheveled hair, and even the Duke’s shirt, which had always been neatly arranged, was wrinkled.
Verseny’s satisfied expression distorted for a moment.
Oddly, the face seemed perfectly fine. There was not even a hint of smudged lipstick on the lady’s lips.
Certainly, it seemed like something had happened… Was there really nothing visible? Did those two, in their vigorous age, really not do anything?
Without knowing any of these thoughts, Olivia stared at the documents with a tense gaze.
“Go ahead, Olivia.”
Edwin’s eyes, smiling refreshingly today, met hers. As soon as Olivia accepted the documents, she wrote her name next to Edwin’s.
[Dash] Olivia. Now, looking at her name without a surname, Olivia glanced at Edwin’s name.
[Dash] Edwin R. Bickander.Thinking that this surname would soon be added to her name, a pleasant tension passed through Olivia’s body.
As Olivia looked at Edwin’s handwriting, she hesitated for a moment. Although she felt a certain uneasiness, Olivia dismissed it, thinking it might be due to tension.
Conveniently, Verseny called Olivia.
“Have you written everything?”
“Yes.”
Verseny, who had been staring at Olivia’s name for a while, shrugged his shoulders. Then, as if declaring while stamping the magic seal, he said, ”
“By this, on the day you two hold the wedding ceremony, this Baeksujeong Mine will automatically be transferred to the joint ownership of the couple.”
Verseny’s solemn words felt like the final announcement of marriage vows. Feeling embarrassed even in trivial matters might be because of my confession to Edwin a little while ago.
“Everything’s done. Shall we go to sleep?”
Although I tried my best not to make it awkward, Olivia’s words, coming out of her mouth, sounded harsh to anyone.
Edwin, who had bravely spoken to me, now slowly smiled at the awkwardness and said, “We’re done here.”
“And with that, would you like to go to sleep?”
Even though I tried my best not to make it awkward, Olivia’s words, coming out of her mouth, sounded harsh to anyone.
Edwin, who had bravely spoken to me, now slowly smiled at the awkwardness and said, “We’re done here.”
“We should take this with us.”
And he took out a ring case from his pocket. Strangely familiar, when Olivia saw the case open, she couldn’t help but let out a sigh of admiration.
It was Edwin’s ring that she had seen at Madame Deton’s boutique, and it was an engagement ring. As the flaming red gemstone flickered like it was on fire, Edwin naturally took Olivia’s hand and placed it on the fourth finger.
Olivia blinked her eyelashes slowly.
Ivory-colored dress, the document with both Edwin and my signatures, and now, the engagement ring.
It’s really funny. The moment I felt like it was like an engagement ceremony, Edwin whispered affectionately.
“Finally, this ring has found its place.”
The flaming red ring sparkled for a moment. At the same time, Olivia’s marble necklace outside the gaze of the two also sparkled.
As if resonating with each other.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
