The very first item to kick off the auction was the dice said to contain a soul.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please focus! This die shows whichever number you deeply desire in your heart!”

The auctioneer, who had introduced himself earlier as the Kiki Chief, had stepped offstage. In his place appeared a somewhat smaller and shorter man who now took charge of the auction.

“Three hundred gold! Three hundred fifty gold! Three fifty! Any higher bids? Three fifty, three fifty, three fifty! Very well—sold at an excellent and reasonable price!”

To my eyes, these were items I wouldn’t even accept as free gifts, yet each one sold for astonishing sums.

‘Three hundred fifty gold…’

Was it even believable that a die smaller than my palm could fetch such a price?

“If there’s anything you like, just say so.”

Clemens murmured quietly beside me. I nodded and firmly resolved to myself:

‘I absolutely must not utter a single word.’

I still remembered all too clearly how, because of one tiny slip of the tongue, my wardrobe had ended up overflowing with clothes and accessories.

“Thank you all so much for your enthusiastic participation! Now, let’s move right on to the next item!”

Fortunately, the sequence moved swiftly along. The auctions concluded rapidly, and if people sensed a bid was hopeless, they didn’t linger—they gave up immediately.

As time passed, I grew increasingly anxious.

‘Please, please let it not be the Silver Snake.’
