The maid scrubbing the window frame, the servant rehanging a portrait, and even Kuscess, the chef always in charge of my meals—all of them showed concern and pressed little gifts into my hands.

Most of them were jellies, candies, or small snacks.

‘Everyone’s overdoing it.’

I popped one jelly into my mouth and burrowed deep under the blankets. Maybe because of the sweet fruity flavor, the corners of my lips itched faintly.

Perhaps it was simply because this was the first time so many people worried about me.
