My eyes were heavy and wouldn’t open easily. I struggled to open them.

It seemed that my eyes had swollen shut, probably because I had fallen asleep crying.

“The blanket……”

Looking out the window, I realized it was already deep into the dark night.

I fumbled with one hand, looking for the blanket. Then someone pulled the blanket over me, covering me up to my neck.

Naturally, I thought it was Sophia and turned my head.

But it was the Duke who had covered me with the blanket.

I was suddenly wide awake, and as I opened my eyes wide, he casually said,

“Sleep more.”

“Where are Sophia and Delma?”

“They left earlier.”

Half asleep, I paused just as I was about to retreat back into the blanket with my eyes tightly closed.

‘But why is the Duke in my room?’

A sigh almost escaped me. Even with my eyes closed, I could vividly feel the Duke’s gaze.

Sure enough, when I opened my eyes again, I met the Duke’s eyes directly.

In the end, I slowly got up.

“Why are you getting up instead of sleeping?”

‘How can I sleep when you’re looking at me like that……’

I didn’t reply, just shook my head timidly.

Then I steeled myself mentally. I didn’t want to cry in front of the Duke again like before.

I didn’t need to ask why the Duke had come here.

‘I didn’t keep my promise.’

He probably came to confront me about that.

Quietly waiting for him to speak, the Duke finally said,

“Did you cry again?”

“……I didn’t cry.”

“Your eyes are swollen.”

“They always swell when I sleep.”

I dodged the question.

I pressed my puffy eyes hard with the back of my hand. It wasn’t because of pride that I was saying I didn’t cry.

I anticipated what the Duke would say in my mind.

Why didn’t you keep your promise, how dare you ignore my words, I will change your escort since you didn’t keep the promise, etc.

‘If I knew this would happen, I would have just stayed quiet.’

Worrying about it won’t make the Duke understand.

Then the Duke snapped his fingers in front of me.

“You’re doing it again.”

“?”

“What is such a small thing thinking about so much?”

I clenched my mouth shut and lowered my head. Then cautiously, I opened my mouth again.

“Are you going to change my escort to someone else?”

“Are you talking about Yan Beiholt?”

As I nodded, the Duke seemed to ponder, rubbing his chin as if considering.

“Well, maybe I should change it this time.”

“No!”

I quickly shook my head. He raised one eyebrow.

“I want to change it even more, then.”

His words made me widen my eyes. He really had the mind of a frog.

“What do you like about that guy?”

“Yan is kind.”

“Is kindness everything?”

“It’s not just that! Yan is kind, gentle, affectionate……”

The Duke’s expression hardened. He seemed to want to argue but couldn’t find the words.

“And Yan saved me.”

I still remember the first day I met Yan.

When my mother was about to hit me, Yan appeared and grabbed her hand.

“I shouldn’t have sent him that day……”

‘What are you saying?’

The Duke muttered to himself, grinding his teeth.

Anyway, there were more reasons why I liked Yan.

He was on the side of the protagonist, had a handsome smiling face, and genuinely cared for me.

Then the Duke clicked his tongue and spoke again.

“I never planned to change your escort from the beginning.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

His unexpected response somewhat improved my mood.

I wiped the dried tear stains from my face with a handkerchief nearby.

If he’s not going to change my escort, then being scolded by the Duke is nothing.

“So if you’re going to scold me, scold me quickly.”

“Scold you?”

“Yes, didn’t you come to scold me?”

His words twisted his face into an expression of annoyance.

“What do you take me for? Do you think I came specifically to scold you in the middle of the night?”

“Yes.”

It was something the villainous Duke would do.

My firm answer left the Duke with an incredulous expression.

입만 벙긋거리다 이내 한숨을 쉬었다.

“Scold you I will, but not now, just rest.”

“Then?”

“Why, would you like to be scolded now?”

“No. Don’t scold me now or later.”

“If you don’t want to be scolded, don’t act as you please.”

“You’re right, I came to scold you.”

“…No.”

Silence settled once again.

A little time passed, and the Duke spoke again, his tone much softer than before.

“I came because I was worried, I heard you were crying.”

“…I’m not crying because of you, Duke.”

“It’s true that I’m crying.”

“…”

I was caught off guard. The Duke really seemed weakened.

I firmly closed my mouth.

“I want to sleep.”

I turned my back completely to the Duke and lay down.

It was a silent plea for him to leave, but unfortunately, the Duke didn’t understand.

‘Go away, go away quickly…’

I felt a light weight above my head as I chanted the command in my mind.

It absentmindedly patted me.

‘What’s this?’

It was different from Sofia’s patting, heavier.

If Sofia’s touch felt like a lullaby, this one felt like a blunt tap.

‘Is it to make me sleep, or not to sleep?’

I stubbornly closed my eyes, pondering.

Surprisingly, sleep found me faster.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
