Ludmila opened her eyes the next morning after collapsing.

Thanks to a physician summoned late in the evening who rushed over for an examination, Ludmila was able to recover quickly.

“Your pulse is normal and your breathing is steady—you should be safe now.”

The doctor let out a sigh of relief as he packed his instruments back into his medical bag and turned his gaze toward Ludmila.

She, who had been staring blankly at the ceiling with wide-open eyes, painfully furrowed her brow.

This was already the third time she had collapsed recently.

The first time was after eating. The second due to a cold. And now, this latest episode.

Ludmila had never once thought herself frail or in poor health.

Though her pale, thin appearance often prompted people to ask if she was unwell, she had rarely actually suffered from illness.

In fact, she never imagined someone as seldom troubled by minor ailments as herself would collapse like this.

“Could there be something wrong?”

She worried it might be a serious illness.

She had come here because she didn’t want to die—only to fall ill and die young anyway would be bitterly ironic, and the thought that her fate of death might be unchangeable left her unable to simply laugh it off.

At least she was relieved that Aden hadn’t witnessed this spectacle.

Surely, if he’d seen her collapse, that man would either stay here instead of heading to the capital or worry incessantly the entire journey—she couldn’t burden him like that.
