Aden greeted an earlier-than-usual morning, fully prepared.

Yesterday had already been an exhausting day, but an even more demanding schedule awaited him today.

Beresa, having heard the news, came to see Aden off after he’d finished his preparations.

“You’re going all the way to Frost Pass?”

Aden, feeding a sugar cube to the horse brought by the groom, gave a brief nod.

Though the Sand Plateau, where the Kan tribe had settled, remained relatively mild even in winter, Frost Pass was famously the coldest place in the entire Empire.

It was a place blanketed in snow for half the year.

He would have preferred sending someone else if possible, but the task was too important—there was simply no one else to substitute.

At best, only Beresa came to mind. As Aden continued his thoughts, he turned his head.

“By the way, didn’t you tell Ludmila who you are?”

Beresa, leaning casually against a pillar, widened her eyes in surprise before shaking her head.

Taken aback by her reply, Aden let out a quiet chuckle. Could that meticulous woman truly have neglected to inquire about the status of someone she was cultivating a relationship with?

“I tried to tell her, but she said it wasn’t necessary. What was it again? ‘As long as you uphold our contract, I don’t care who you are.’”

What an eccentric woman.

She hadn’t seemed careless enough to form some kind of arrangement with someone of uncertain status.
