Just before leaving, Ayla whispered to me with a worried expression.

She said the child hadn’t spoken a word the whole time they were together, only making soft, anxious sounds.

The child clung tightly to me, hiding in my arms, never once turning back to look at Jade.

I made sure to get a firm promise from him that he would visit again tomorrow before I left.

Once in the carriage, the child finally relaxed, nodding off and soon falling fast asleep.

“Oh my, Lady Blanche must be very tired. Let me carry her to her bedroom.”

“Could you do that?”

As we entered Count Boston’s residence, Mary gently took the sleeping child from my arms.

“Miss, the reports from the estate have been placed in your study. I asked Lord Aaron, and he said if you find them too difficult, just contact him through the communicator.”

“…Alright.”

Hearing Mary mention the estate reports, I went straight to the study.

‘I don’t even know who Aaron is right now—it’d be awkward to contact him out of the blue…’

I decided to try handling things on my own first. Suddenly, the child’s crying echoed from outside, and I hurried out.

“Lady Blanche, Miss is in the study right now. She didn’t leave you behind on purpose.”

The child had been wandering the hallway with Mary, searching for me.
