Pregnant With The Wolf's Child (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 23
“…I thought you’d figure it out right away.”
Jade gave a scoffing laugh at my words.
“Larien. You couldn’t possibly be that kind of person to me.”
Beneath those words lingered anger as well.
His eyes held a reproachful look, as if blaming me for expecting he’d move on so easily.
It was a painful confession—saying he’d wanted to die, but couldn’t because I’d told him to live.

‘I thought I knew Jade well, but apparently not at all.’
He’d left behind a cruel letter telling me to live.
So I lived—by abandoning Jade.
His words, that he’d survived because he couldn’t abandon me, told me all I needed to know about how he’d lived since, even without hearing more.
‘He endured all this time, holding onto the memories we built together.’
The crackling of burning firewood seeped into the air as we shared a quiet breath.
