Pregnant With The Wolf's Child (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 16
Though I told Blanche she could come out when she felt better, the grandfather clock chimed, marking the hour.
The hour hand pointed to 8 p.m., and I worried Blanche might be hungry with an empty stomach.
‘She only ate cake during the day—she must be starving. What should I do?’
I brought in chicken soup, Blanche’s favorite.
“Blanche, aren’t you hungry?”
“…….”
“I made chicken soup—would you like some?”
Blanche was buried under the covers, pulled all the way over her head in bed.
“Sweetheart, are you still asleep?”
Her breathing sounded strangely labored. I set the bowl of chicken soup on the nightstand and lifted the blanket.
“Blanche!”
Her forehead was burning hot, and her cheeks were flushed bright red.
“Mommy…?”
“Blanche, since when have you been like this? You were perfectly fine just a while ago.”
I hadn’t left her alone thinking nothing was wrong.
I picked up Blanche and ran to Le Cach’s only Doctor, pounding on the door.
I was breathless from running nonstop, but with Blanche limp in my arms, I couldn’t afford to delay.
“Viscountess? You came all the way here without even summoning me…?”
The Doctor stepped out, clearly startled.
“Blanche—her forehead suddenly became scorching hot, and she’s not conscious.”
“Please calm down first and lay Lady Blanche down.”
Inside, I laid Blanche down and brushed her sweat-dampened hair aside.
The Doctor examined her with a grave expression and administered a fever-reducing medicine.
“It seems she briefly lost consciousness due to high fever. Now that she’s taken the medicine, she should recover soon.”
“I’m relieved it’s just a simple fever.”
The Doctor shook his head, disagreeing with my words.
“This isn’t a simple fever. Have you seen the mark on Lady Blanche’s shoulder?”
“…A mark?”
A complex, vine-like symbol stood out prominently on Blanche’s shoulder.
“It appears Lady Blanche has developed holy power.”
“H-Holy power? But holy power is usually innate from birth, isn’t it?”
“Indeed, I’ve never heard of a case like Lady Blanche’s, where it suddenly appears.”
I was utterly bewildered by the fact that Blanche had acquired holy power.
“She likely entered the depletion stage because she couldn’t control this sudden surge of holy power.”
Holy power depletion—a crucial plot point in the original story.
Serendio, the firstborn child of Oscar and Erna, had died after his holy power depleted and spiraled out of control.
‘What if the same happens to Blanche?’
With a heavy heart, I carried Blanche back and laid her gently in bed.
“Viscountess! I heard you went to see the Doctor because of Blanche!”
The door burst open, and Aaron rushed in.
“She’s asleep now.”
After confirming Blanche was sleeping, Aaron lowered his voice in relief.
“What exactly happened?”
“Blanche developed holy power but couldn’t control it, so it depleted.”
“Her holy power depleted?”
Aaron couldn’t hide his confusion at this sudden turn of events.
“…If she receives the Pope’s blessing, it won’t be a permanent solution, but it might halt the depletion.”
I recalled that, in the story, Prince Serendio would have survived if he’d received the Pope’s help.
“Viscountess… doesn’t the Pope reside solely in the Grand Cathedral of Langranxia?”
Aaron was right.

The problem was that the Pope was stationed at the Grand Cathedral in Langranxia.
To me, Langranxia was the place I’d abandoned everything to leave behind.
I’d even set fire to the Belaste Ducal Residence’s annex before fleeing, determined—
to never return to Langranxia again.
But if that was the only way to save Blanche, I had no choice but to go back.
“I’ll head to the Grand Cathedral in Langranxia. I’m leaving for Agliche Harbor right now.”
“…Are you sure? If things go wrong, it’ll be extremely dangerous.”
Aaron’s objection was valid—he was genuinely worried.
Langranxia was filled with too many dangerous elements.
If they discovered I’d been living in hiding as Diane all this time, raising Jade’s child…—
I knew the consequences would be truly horrifying.
But still.
“It’s better than losing Blanche.”
I firmly pushed away the horrifying images that surfaced in my mind and made my decision.
“Don’t worry, Aaron. I’ll be extremely careful and go only as far as the Grand Cathedral.”
“…I’ll inform Count Boston. Please, be very careful.”
I couldn’t forget the day Blanche was born and first held my hand.
‘Your hand is still so small. Blanche, I can’t live without you.’
I squeezed Blanche’s hand tightly.
“Milady, are you really sure you don’t want me to come along?”
“Yes. I’ll be back soon.”
“It’ll be cold in Langranxia now. At least wear a winter robe.”
“Thank you, Mary. I’ll be back.”
I wrapped the robe Mary handed me over my face and boarded the ship bound for Langranxia with the sleeping Blanche.
It had been five years since I’d left Langranxia.
[This is the timeline separator]Silence settled heavily in the dining room of Rowe Marquis Residence.
“Foie gras is truly delicious. Marquis, please try some.”
Charlotte spoke nervously to Jade seated across from her.
“…I’m fine.”
Polite but unmistakably dismissive.
Clearly finding her company bothersome, Jade scanned his food impassively.
“You really won’t open your heart to me, will you, Marquis?”
Charlotte voiced her disappointment—her brave attempt had been flatly ignored.
He still wouldn’t give her even a shred of attention.
Jade Lowe.
Quite some time had passed since their engagement.
Their betrothal talks first began when Count Wins, her father, considered investing in Rowe’s business.
Charlotte had fallen for Jade at first sight.
His silver hair, like melted moonlight, and ruby-red eyes resembled a meticulously carved sculpture.
She desperately wanted to be engaged to Jade.
But Marquis Rowe later declared the investment unnecessary and annulled the engagement.
No matter how many times Charlotte visited, he refused to see her.
She came from a respectable family and possessed looks that easily drew marriage proposals from eligible bachelors.
Being treated this way by Jade alone wounded her pride deeply.
Just as she’d decided to give up, Charlotte heard from Count Wins that she was to be engaged to Jade again.
Of course, Jade’s own wishes hadn’t been considered.
Grand Duke Yucis, Rowe’s senior, had unilaterally arranged it while Jade was in seclusion.
Furious at Grand Duke Yucis for proceeding without his consent, Jade tried to break off the engagement with Charlotte.
Not wanting to lose him, Charlotte went to him and tearfully begged.

She couldn’t bear the stigma of having been Jade’s fiancée for only a week.
Though he eventually agreed to maintain the engagement—she’d convinced him to wait four years before annulment—Jade continued to treat her with indifference at every meal.
He never even allowed her to call his name, always drawing a clear line.
All because of Princess Bellaste, Larien.
‘Butler, how’s my brother? Has he eaten?’
‘He hasn’t touched his food. Ever since Lady Princess Bellaste… he hasn’t even left his room.’
I’d overheard Ayla and the Butler mention that Jade had lost his will to live after Larien’s death.
‘Why can’t he just forget a woman who’s long gone?’
Charlotte didn’t want to break off the engagement.
If they’d never been engaged, fine—but Jade was already hers.
She wouldn’t let a long-dead Larien take him away.
“Lady Wins.”
“…Yes, Marquis.”
“The four-year term you requested is nearly up. Please prepare for the annulment without delay.”
Jade’s coldness made Charlotte despair.
“M-Marquis… I don’t… I don’t want to annul it! Yes, I did say that at first—just a little longer, please…!”
Four years.
She’d set that deadline believing she could win him over.
‘Even if he didn’t love me, I thought he’d just go through with the wedding if he had no other option…’
Yet Jade was still intent on breaking it off.
“I agreed to your request only because maintaining the engagement this long is already more than enough.”
His scornful tone made Charlotte’s hands tremble.
“I’ll be a wonderful wife. I’ll fully uphold my role as Lady of Rowe and support you. Please…!”
She desperately grasped Jade’s gloved hand, pleading.
“I have no need for you.”
Jade sharply brushed her hand away. Her knuckles burned with stinging pain.
“…Then will you leave the position of Marchioness of Rowe vacant forever? Marrying into House Wins would make things far easier for you!”
“Rowe’s welfare is none of your concern. I’ll take my leave now.”
Left alone in the dining room, Charlotte hurled the dishware before her.
“Is ignoring me constantly not enough—you have to humiliate me like this too?”
There were two reasons she wanted to marry Jade.
She wanted to escape her demanding father, who kept pressuring her to win Jade’s heart, and her scornful sorority peers.
And… because of another man’s child, conceived by a momentary mistake.
Charlotte placed a hand on her swelling belly.
‘I must marry the Marquis of Rowe before spring arrives… yet he can’t even stand to touch me.’
Time was running out—if she wanted to pass off the baby as Jade’s.
Jade’s announcement that he was preparing for annulment made her frantic.

That chapter was an absolute good ! . I honestly cannot wait to see what happens next.
Ugh.. All these drama happened just because they can’t be truthful with one another. What a pain.
There would be no story without all these misunderstandings.
