“Guardian of Ms. Song Chae Yoon.”

Jae Oh, who had been taking a phone call outside the examination room, turned his head toward the room.

The nurse, making eye contact with Jae Oh, said,

“Please come in.”

It was the signal that Chae Yoon’s ultrasound was finished.

Jae Oh replied with a soft “Yes,” gave a slight nod, and ended the call.

Entering the examination room, he saw Chae Yoon just stepping out of the ultrasound room.

Having already seen the clearly positive pregnancy test last weekend, Jae Oh smiled and walked toward Chae Yoon.

But suddenly, tears began welling up in Chae Yoon’s eyes. Her chin trembled, and her eyes quickly reddened as tears kept rising. Jae Oh’s heart sank heavily.

Alarmed, thinking something might be wrong, he quickly approached her and asked,

“What’s wrong? Did they say something bad?”

Seeing Jae Oh, Chae Yoon choked up, unable to speak, and wordlessly buried herself in his arms. Then, as she sniffled, confusion flickered in his deep-set eyes. What on earth was this reaction?

Unable to make sense of it, Jae Oh gently stroked her hair and called her name.

“Chae Yoon.”

Hearing his voice, which sought an explanation, the doctor—who had just come out of the ultrasound room and was watching them—spoke up.
