Still consumed by his own thoughts, Jae Oh turned his head slightly and said,
“So, let go when I tell you to.”
But his expression clearly conveyed that he desperately didn’t want to let her go.
This contradiction was both amusing and heartwarming to Chae Yoon, who replied with a playful twist in her eyes,
“Hold on when I tell you to.”
Because this is your last chance.
Then, his gaze, which had been elsewhere, shifted to her.
Their eyes met, and Chae Yoon asked,
“What will you do?”
Despite her mentioning that this was the last time, Jae Oh silently stared at Chae Yoon, seemingly finding it hard to reply immediately.

His gaze landed on a small bandage on Chae Yoon’s pale cheek.
A place he wished to gently touch but hadn’t dared to.
As Jae Oh stared at her wound, he reached out to touch it.
Feeling Jae Oh’s warmth on her cheek, Chae Yoon flinched slightly but didn’t shy away.
His gaze on Chae Yoon deepened.
‘One month.’
A period neither short nor long, but within it, he felt so much.
His shortcomings, his mistakes, and his feelings for her.
The deeper his feelings for her grew, the more he realized his mistakes and his deficiencies.
That’s why he wanted to let her go.

I should be the only one in pain, but it hurts because you’re in pain too.
However, if you’re okay with it…
[Don’t think you’re unqualified.] [After all, you’re the husband I chose.]If you grant me the right to be by your side,
I’ll shamelessly hold on.
“Do you truly have no regrets?”
To Jae Oh’s question, Chae Yoon nodded slightly and replied,
“Yes.”
Hearing her unwavering answer, Jae Oh couldn’t hold back anymore.

He approached Chae Yoon and enveloped her delicate frame in his embrace.
The scent that wafted from her as he held her was intoxicating.
At the same time, the flood of emotions surpassed any he had ever felt before.
For some reason, he felt tears forming, and he held Chae Yoon even tighter, indulging in the scent emanating from her. A flash of confusion crossed Chae Yoon’s eyes as she lay in his embrace.
His breath on her neck felt electrifying.
This sensation alone was overwhelming, and when he pressed even closer, her breath hitched.
And wasn’t this a public place, after all?
The surroundings were quiet, but fearing someone might come, Chae Yoon barely raised her voice.
“Um… Brother.”
She called to get his attention, but he moved even closer, saying,
“If I don’t do this, I feel like I’ll go crazy, so just bear with me a little.”

It’s not about tolerating…
“I can’t breathe…”
Hearing Chae Yoon’s strained voice, Jae Oh’s eyes widened in shock.
Jae Oh, who had been holding Chae Yoon, quickly released his grip and checked on her, stepping back.
Unable to breathe properly, Chae Yoon was gasping for air.
A slightly crumpled expression, hand pressing below her ribcage.
Worry flashed in Jae Oh’s eyes seeing this.
He didn’t think he hugged her that tight.
[Wrist sprain and minor bruising…]His attention was caught by ‘minor bruising’.

It seemed the ‘minor’ wasn’t so minor after all.
The thought that she might have other unknown injuries made the corners of his sharp eyes fierce.
If I ever find the bastard who did this on a bike…
He was already uneasy hearing Chae Yoon easily settled the matter, and now with this thought, anger surged to the tip of his tongue.
Gritting his teeth, Jae Oh examined Chae Yoon and asked,
“Does it hurt a lot? It’s where you got hurt, right?”
Having regained her breath somewhat, Chae Yoon replied nonchalantly,
“No?”
“You’re not hurt even though I hugged you that tight?”
“Not just a little. Almost…”

She stopped, intending to say she almost suffocated, because of him sitting hunched over with his back to her.
“What are you doing right now?”
“Lift me up.”
“Why? My legs are fine.”
“They might not be, so lift me up quickly.”
They might not be?
Thinking about what that might mean, realization dawned on Chae Yoon.
He was already worried about post-accident symptoms when she didn’t eat much for lunch. Now he seems concerned about unknown injuries.
‘But if you’re that worried, shouldn’t you not hug so tightly?’
Finding it amusing that he didn’t realize his own strength and blamed others, Chae Yoon, a smile playing on her lips, tapped Jae Oh’s back.

“Stop being dramatic and get up.”
At that, Jae Oh turned his head sharply to look at her.
“Dramatic? Why is this dramatic? Someone got hurt.”
Unable to understand how this could be seen as being dramatic, Chae Yoon shook her head vigorously and walked on.
As Chae Yoon walked ahead, Jae Oh quickly got up and followed her.
He wasn’t just following her steps.
After the accident, as if making up for not worrying before, he started bombarding her with concerned questions.
“How’s your wrist? Can a protector do? Or should you get a cast?”
“If it was that bad, the hospital would’ve done it. And a cast is so inconvenient.”
“Why’s it inconvenient? I’m here.”

His expression seemed to say, ‘Just trust me.’
“I should never get a cast.”
Replying playfully as if she couldn’t trust him, a smile appeared on Jae Oh’s lips.
They smiled at each other.
Walking side by side at the same pace, there was an air of excitement.
It was the beginning of a new relationship.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
