From the uniforms of the knights already deployed and fighting, Alicia could tell they belonged to Eric’s Second Knight Order, but she couldn’t see Eric anywhere.

Alicia, who had been supporting the knights, spotted children crouching and hiding in an alley and rushed in to save them.

She conjured a weak bolt of lightning to drive the demons away, shoved the children into a building within the alley, and lured the demons toward herself.

After passing through several alleys and reaching a relatively wide one, Alicia created a fireball, incinerating all the pursuing demons, then looked around.

“Hah. Is this side taken care of, then?”

Worried about being separated from her comrades, Alicia quickly moved to rejoin them.

“Hello. Long time no see.”

“Ugh.”

Suddenly, a mage appeared behind Alicia, wrapped his arms around her waist, and clasped her hand—marked with a sigil—within his own.

“Huh? Since when…?”

“Shh. Don’t turn around. If you see my face now, I’ll have to kill you. And that would be such a waste.”

“You think you could kill me? You’ll need me.”

“Bold as ever, I see. I really like that.”

The mage’s warm breath brushed against Alicia’s ear.
