But Eric, annoyingly, became jealous and avoided important conversations.

Could this be the power struggle people talk about?

Tsk—

Annoyed, Alicia grabbed the documents on the table.

“……”

Jenna began to worry, observing Alicia’s everchanging expressions.

‘Is it really boredom? The heat came fast; is it cooling fast? Time has passed quite a bit.’

Jenna hesitated, then opened her mouth with concern.

“Alicia.”

“Hm? Oh, sorry, I was lost in thought. What were we talking about?”

Alicia forced a smile when Jenna called her, snapping her back to reality.

Jenna, looking pitiful, took Alicia’s hand.

“Should we go have a drink?”

(This is a time separator.)

As soon as an unexpectedly awkward dinner ended, Eric returned to Count Russel’s residence.

Alicia did not come back until dinner was over.

‘Where on earth is she going? It’s so dangerous outside.’

Changing into comfortable clothes, Eric sat in his study, mumbling.

Though there was quite a bit of missing sorcerer data piled before him, nothing caught his eye.

He sighed softly and rubbed his forehead.

Then he started to focus on the documents again.

‘Before the curfew, over 20 simple missing cases and zero whereabouts confirmed.’

Due to the confidentiality emphasized by the regent, his subordinates weren’t fully utilized, and because investigations were conducted mainly by the local police, the pace was slow.

‘Should I tell the Regent to get some support from the sorcerers?’

But what if those sorcerers become targets too?

Tossing the documents onto the desk, he washed his face.

Just then, the butler rushed into the study.

“My Lord!”

“What’s going on?”

Unperturbed, Eric turned over the documents and pushed them aside.

“Well, about Miss—”

“What about Alicia?”

“She’s here now.”

“At this hour?”

“Yes, but she seems a bit off—”

Before the butler could finish, Eric hastily stood and exited the study.

“Come on, follow me!”

The butler chased Eric hurriedly.

Upon reaching the foyer and looking into the carriage outside, Eric found Alicia sprawled out, her eyes closed.

“Hmm.”

“Alicia?”

Eric leaned into the carriage to assess Alicia’s condition.

A smell of alcohol filled the air.

“Ah, it’s Eric!”

Upon making eye contact, Alicia smiled broadly.

‘Cute…no, this isn’t it.’

Snapping back to reality, Eric called to Alicia.

“Alicia, sober up. Where have you been drinking, coming home like this? What if something happened?”

“Eric—”
Alicia reached out both arms toward Eric, then promptly slumped forward.

Before she fell, Eric caught Alicia in his arms.

“Wake up. Where did you drink so much?”

“I drank with Jenna[—].”

“Jenna? Jenna Healy? Where did you drink?”

“At Jenna’s house[—].”

It’s fortunate they drank at home, but had the two women really drunk to this point?

Eric sighed, lifting Alicia to take her inside.

At that moment, the maid who was loitering behind them swiftly walked past Eric, ascending the second floor to unlock Alicia’s room.

Soon, Eric walked in and carefully laid Alicia on the bed.

The butler who followed brought a pitcher and cup and cautiously set them on the table.

“Sir, the Earl.”

“Yes?”

“It might be good to add a scorpion to the Earl of Lancaster’s drink.”

“Ah, please do.”

“It will probably be difficult to return home today?”

“It seems so.”

“I will exclude the part about being drunk and insert it well.”

“Please do.”

The butler courteously bowed and left the room with the maid who had been standing aimlessly.

As he left, he thought it was fortunate that the maid, who usually left work late, was not present due to household matters today.

If she had been there, she would have made a fuss.

“Why did you drink like this?”

“Because I’m upset[—].”

“Upset? Why? What? Who made you this way?”

Eric’s expression rapidly darkened.

“Who dares to[—]?”

“You[—]. It’s because of you.”

“…Me?”

“You idiot[—]. You don’t even know what’s important[—].”

“Me?”

“Needlessly chasing and being jealous.”

“No, that kid is[—]. Never mind. Forget it.”

Eric forced a hollow laugh and shut his mouth.

What’s the point of reasoning with a drunk person?

Then he soothingly stroked Alicia’s head.

“Get some sleep.”

“I don’t want to[—].”

“Then what will you do?”

“Hmm.”

As if pondering, Alicia tilted her head.

With a flushed face, she chewed her lips.

Unconsciously, Eric stared intently at her lips.

‘…Was patience originally meant for times like this?’

Eric disdainfully frowned at his absurd thought.

Just then, Alicia grasped Eric’s face with both hands.

“Why, what is it? Why are you like this?”

A flustered Eric froze, not knowing what to do.

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
